Granite International

Make sure your cabinets are level. They had to shim one end about an inch higher than the other. If I had known, I would have tried to shave down the high spot in the middle. Also, they admit that they forgot to seal it in the warehouse and we got a few possible grease marks. They took care of it when they returned to do the backsplash. I also had to do the caulking because the company only provides installers with clear or white caulk and I needed black.

Staff at the Syracuse store was knowledgeable and helpful, and there were nice large stone samples to view and choose from. Installers showed up at the appointed time and worked diligently to complete the installation. All measurements were double-checked, each slab was precisely shimmed for straightness and level, seams were carefully aligned and sealed, and the granite surface was cleaned before they left. The only (minor) glitch was that I was supposed to receive the sink cutout piece (edged and polished to made a cutting board) but someone's signals had gotten crossed and the installers were not provided that item to deliver. As a result I need to make a trip out to their store to obtain that already-paid-for item. Overall I am very pleased with the quality of the counter top and the professional service.

Overall, I thought it went well.  I asked that the granite seam be moved from the sink to another spot and they did it no problem.  They were timely in reporting to my house and the people who installed it did a good job.  I paid to have all the debris removed by them and they did that as well.  I looked at a number of other granite contractors in the Syracuse area and felt I got the best deal through Granite International.

The granite counter tops, back splash and windowsill are beautiful. The sales staff are professional, and the installers are professional.  Granite International does not unhook an existing sink, hook up the new one or install new faucets, so that had to be handled by a separate contractor/ The one they recommend is great; very professional and competent.  It just means you have to coordinate with one other person for the day of the installation!
When the granite was installed, there was a discrepancy between the remaining amount (higher balance) than I had expected, when I paid the 50% deposit.  When the template was made, they realized it would require more granite than originally estimated.  The sales staff were great and agreed to split the difference, since a new estimate had not been sent, and it was a little over $200 higher than the amount quoted.  I also found an area in a seam that was a little rough, and they sent someone out that day to smooth it down perfectly. I'm pleased with the granite, the work and the provider.  I like my kitchen a lot now!
Notes -
1 - One of the reasons I chose this provider is because they have Saturday hours, which is very convenient.
2 - They have a lot of choices of granite, with a range of prices. I was able to see the slab of granite before paying my deposit.
3 - The cost of service above does not include unhooking the sink and hooking up the new one up or installing the new faucet; it is just the granite and installation of granite.  Again, that work was done by another provider.
