"Defective Velux skylight like i Said. That's why they wanted to replace it. Skylights are the biggest headache for homeowners!!!"
"You need to get in touch with the skylight manufacturer Supreme. The welds are cracked in the copper flashing. Its a manufacturers defect. There's nothing I can do until you start the warranty process."
The owner of Ridgeview Roofing and his crew were all a pleasure to work with. The shingles were a near-exact match for the other sections of roof that didn't need replacing. But, more importantly, the entire installation process was professional and the end result is as good-looking as anyone could expect. It rained heavily the next day ... a good test of a new roof! ... and there no leaks that I could detect.
When they were all finished, our property around the area where they worked was spotless. They were neat and clean while working and just as fastidious when cleaning up after the fact.
If and when the rest of our roof might need replacing, I now know who to turn to.
Highly recommended!
He came to my house and climbed up the roof for a complete checkup before giving me the quote. His quote was the cheapest and I decided to choose him because he was friendly and knowledgeable. He was able to answer my questions/concerns about the job. They spent 5 days on the job where Jim himself worked with the crew the entire first day. They did a pretty good job and I have not noticed any issues after the replacement up to this point.
Jim, the owner, provided an initial estimate promptly. I changed the job specifications and asked Jim and re-estimate the job a couple of times. Jim was pretty prompt in responding to re-estimate requests and changes in specifications for the job. He always responded professionally, courteously, and as quickly as he could.
Jim made suggestions as to roofing styles and colors. I decided to take his advice and the end result looks fantastic!
We had some challenges scheduling the work (either he was busy, or I was!) but when we agreed on a start date he showed up right on time. Because of the unseasonably high heat and humidity his crew had to quit early, so a 1-day job stretched to 2 days. But I can hardly blame him for wanting to protect his workers.
His crew was courteous and worked with great care. They took pride in their work and they cleaned up the job site nicely. They took care of last minute requests promptly and without complaint.
I asked Jim to come back a few days after the job was done to take care of some minor issues. He came back as quickly as he could and handled my requests personally, and did not leave until I was satisfied.
Altogether a great job and a great experience. I am pleased to recommend Ridgeview Roofing. Great value for the money spent!
"Thanks Member, it was a pleasure to work with you. Jim"
"I'm not sure why they waited 10 years to post a review. There was an issue with the chimney still leaking after we did the roof, ended up being the siding next to the chimney not the roof. That was 10 years ago, haven't heard from them since. I don't get it!"
"In response to this member's comments, let me first say there where several contractors working at the house at the same time so there was alot of debris from everone working. The skylights where originally going to be replaced and then due to budget we would see if they could be saved. Ultimatlly we deceided to change them. The skylight in questiopn required a custom flashing to join two skylights together, the supplier told me 3 days, they didn't ship it out for 4 days. The two skylights where completly ice and water shielded in. There are no gutters on the house and the water from the upper roof pouring directly on the skylight was to much and leaked. I got a call in the morning and was there within a half hour and tarped it myself. the roof area these skylights are on is a 4' x 8' ft bump out. Flooded? there was a 1/4 of a roll of paper towels used. The pine floors had huge gaps in the floor and where discolerd from the skylights prior to the small leak. I personally cleaned up after the skylight installation. There where contractors installing floors, ripping out walls and bathrooms at the same time.I only saw her once or twice during the entire job and she never mentioned any of this. I'm also very disapointed. Jim"
I only hope that our experience and this report will help other home owners to avoid this company.
"In response to this report, the leak occured in January of 2011 and was a simple ice dam. When he called I responded immediatly. We had close to 5 feet of snow in that month, there was close to 3 feet of snow on the roof. We installed six feet of ice shield and with that amount of snow it needs to removed from the eaves. There where thousands of roofs leaking in that winter and we shoveled off about 100. There was nothing to correct, if we have another winter with that much snow his roof will leak again."
