Dan showed up when he said he would, worked a little later when he had to rectify the mistake of whomever put the old water heater in, and installed the new one without a hiccup. He was kind enough to check on the status of the job in the next few days. If I have any plumbing/heating jobs in the future, I will probably be calling dan first.
