1. The quote was confusing, and after two requests, it still included that driveway (which I wasn't planning to do then). 2. The original quote was for 4 days, $1600 labor. They 'discovered' that the stoop had to be replaced (which I had told them), and said that it would cost an extra day and and extra $1200. (Original quote was $400/day) 3. All debris removed from the existing walk was placed on the lawn, and left there until the completion of the job. 4. They didn't show up several days, causing the job to take almost 2 weeks. 5. As they were getting ready to place the stones, I commented that there was no stone or concrete layer. They said that I "didn't need it", but it would have prevented the weeds that are now growing through the new walk. 6. They asked for an additional $400 to remove the debris. 7. The final bill was as confusing as the quote, and contained a error of several hundred dollars. The materials charges were not all supported by receipts. 8. The new walk is below ground level, causing water to accumulate each rainfall. 9. The final masonry was performed by people I had never seen before, who appeared to be day laborers. The work was extremely sloppy. To be fair, I realized that some of the extra charges were not included in the quote.
