I will preface my review by saying that Jo and "Floors, Decor and More" was referred to me by a client who had used their services that was quite satisfied with the company's service. But that level of satisfaction is far from what I experienced during my time working with Jo and her team to remodel my kitchen. From start to finish the word I can best use to describe FDM's operation is unprofessional. Because the company and the designer came highly recommended I did not do my research and vet them the way I would have had I not had a personal referral. I have since looked at the reviews online and I can say they are spot on. The reviews of FDM are an eclectic mix of 5 star and 1 star reviews and they are consistent. If you look at the negative reviews, the recurring themes are unprofessionalism and attitude. To be clear, FDM is a general contractor. Nothing more, nothing less. Jo comes up with some basic design ideas, but her only real service is remodeling. For actually planning the kitchen she brought in an outside consultant that did the actual layout and sketches - the only thing she really managed were the subcontractors. On that note I will say that a project that two other quoting contractors said should take between 3-7 weeks to complete she dragged into a 5 month ordeal. Her contractors left a complete mess and had to be watched as they preferred to cut corners and leave poorly completed or incomplete tasks. The place that FDM really failed though was in their owner's attitude. If you annoy her in the least she has zero restraint and will escalate to yelling at you and belittling you in a heartbeat. Her subcontractors do not maintain a clean work area and their work is mediocre at best (certainly not commensurate with what she charges). One of her contractors destroyed $1500 in backsplash marble tiles by laying them improperly because he was in a rush; and another plumbing contractor connected a kick panel heater to a residential fresh water line instead of tying it into the heating loop (something she has failed to take responsibility for and that I needed to pay another contractor to correct). FDM has displayed very questionable management, contractors, and finished product. The best I can say is to stay far, far away. Long Island has no shortage of very qualified and capable home improvement contractors - Jo and Floors, Decor, and More are not among them.

Jo was with us every step of the way. She held our hand, made smart and cost effective suggestions and was creative with some of the curve balls that are simply part of any construction project. I'm totally happy with the results and am 100% pleased that we decided to work with Jo.

Great. Everything that was discussed was performed on time and on budget

Everything seemed so easy. Jo brings all of the samples to your home so you don't have to shop around in a million stores. The pricing was very competitive to others we searched and, although we paid less than the other stores quoted for the work performed, nothing was given up in the quality of service or materials. Jo took care of it all and my home looks just as I imagined it should be. We feel lucky to have found her.

What a great experience! Jo was attentive to our needs and truly helped us discover our transitional style as a couple and exclaim that in our beautiful new kitchen and bathroom! She was always available, very easy to work with and attentive to our needs. Our tiger wood kitchen floor looks both exotic and rich. We are so happy she introduced us to this beautiful wood! Jo helped us choose stone for our bathroom and dark, rich fixtures to compliment the marble tiling. We are planning on using Jo for new bedroom furniture and window treatments in the fall!

Great! She has an eye for color and style. She gets to know what you like and presents options in your style. She does not overwhelm you with choices either. Her prices are great and she is easy to work with. She has lots of patience and can get anything you need. Her contacts and relationships with vendors is great.

Jo worked with us for the entire project from start to finish and made it easy to pick what we wanted without running from store to store.
