The work went well. The rewiring of the new porch passed the electrical inspection without any issues. Ernie named his company Always Better Service to focus on the good service that he provides. He feels that the best way to get repeat business is to provide good service. As you can see it worked for us.
Description of Work: Our winterized porch had to be demolished and rebuilt due to damage from tropical storm Irene. ABS Electric installed the switches, outlets, and ceiling fan and reconnected all of the wiring. Our building contractor had allowed $2,000 for the electrical work. ABS Electric did the job for about $550.00. I called ABS Electric again to cap off a disconnected old BX wire in our kitchen ceiling that our builder was repairing due to water damage. We couldn't tell if the wire was live or not. Ernie of ABS left the job he was on around lunchtime to cap off the wire so that the builder could continue his work. He charged about $134.00 which reflected the fact that he had to leave another job to make an emergence repair for us. I called on ABS Electric a third time to install a cable television wire and wall plate in our new porch. I hadn't anticipated wanting a TV on the porch when the walls were still open and the wiring was accessible. So Ernie had to snake the wire behind the wall from the basement because he didn't think it would look good to run the wire along the baseboard and then into and up the wall. He removed the end cap from the baseboard heater and drilled one test hole which is now concealed by the end cap. This served as a reference point so that he could be sure that he would be running the wire between the studs to the location selected for the outlet. The process was time consuming because there were two possible paths for running the wire and tapping into the cable system and both had to be explored. He asked for $300.00 for the job but I paid him $350 because the job turned out to be harder than we expected. The finished job looks like it was done when the walls were open and the wiring was exposed.
