J & J home remodeling

I can't say enough about J&J.  First, I needed the bathroom completed in an incredibly short time, 3 weeks, and had not yet ordered any new tiles, vanity or fixtures. They said they would meet my time constraints and they came through as promised, working almost daily on my job, showing up exactly when they said they would.  Second, they went above and beyond the basic remodeling.  There were existing (known) plumbing issues and unexpected others that popped up once the walls were demo'ed and they addressed them all, so the plumbing is now problem free.  Third, they were extremely knowledgeable about a vast array of construction issues -- nothing they confronted fazed them in the least (even working with glass tiles, which can be tricky) -- and they were highly focused on quality work. Finally, I appreciated that their communications were excellent, candid and constant and that they were all-around stand up professionals, easy to talk with, trustworthy and extremely nice.

OH-Audio Missing.

I had a list of 23 different items that they took care of in one day. He is an expert handyman and can do any job, big or small. I would highly recommend him.

He was on time, neat and efficient. I had great results. I am very happy with him. I would recommend him to anyone.

Joe did much work for us. I would note that, for all of the work listed below, Joe took his time in offering many suggestions on the types of materials and options available, even making many decorating suggesions.

After Hurricane Sandy destroyed everything on the ground floor level of our house, including the
rental apartment and the garage, a demolition crew removed the damaged interior doors, sheetrock and flooring. After having the wiring replaced (Joe was not available for that work), Joe worked almost three weeks continuously for us. After running dehumidifiers for over a week, and ensuring that no mold was present, he basically rebuilt the apartment. He replaced—seemlessly—the lower half of all the sheet rock (in both the apartment and the garage), installed ceramic tile floors throughout the apartment (excluding the bathroom), replaced the baseboard heater covers, replaced all the upper and lower kitchen cabinets, and replaced all interior doors.

One two other occasions (unrelated to Sandy), he gutted and rebuilt the entire kitchen and a bathroom in our (the owner’s) apartment. The kitchen was a complete demo. We purchased the cabinets and appliances separately. He replaced the walls and ceiling, removed a space-wasting dormer, and installed new lower and upper cabinets, a new tile backsplash, and installed the appliances, including a built-in microwave w/ the duct work to the outside. [He coordinated his work w/ the electrical crew that was hired separately]. He completed the job over the course of about seven straight days. The only delay was due to the microwave oven having been damaged in shipment to us. When the microwave was finally replaced, he returned on very short notice to install it.

Similarly, the bathroom was a complete demo. He installed new sheetrock, a new tile floor, a new tile (half) walls, tile shower, shower body and fixtures, toilet, vanity, medicine cabinet, and added an exhaust fan w/ duct work. Most difficultly, he removed a cast-iron bathtub that weighed several hundred pounds. It had to be broken in half to be removed. A problem arose when we realized that the new tub would not fit through the door opening, nor could it be turned inside the bathroom. He ingenuously cut a hole through the sheetrock bathroom wall into the adjourning room, and the new tub was slipped into place. The hole was expertly repaired.

Also, when I told him of a problem we were having with a storm door that had been installed by a contractor we had obtained through a big-box company, he recommended a replacement door, and expertly installed it. We've had no problem with that door since.

Very professional and punctual. No matter what time during the day you call Jim will always answer, a rarity these days. They always go an extra mile to do things right. We first met them when we purchased our house and they did the painting for us. They did such a great job and were so professional that  we decided to hire them again to get our Bathroom and Kitchen redone. We are new to all the home improvement concepts and got some floor tiles that we loved but were ceramic. It was Jim and Joe who told us why we were better off getting porcelain instead. For Kitchen we got the marble tiles and they spent lot of time spreading the tiles out in our living room to make sure the tiles looked great together since each marble tile is unique, something we would have never thought of. They feel more like our family friends than contractors. We are fortunate to have found such trustworthy and reliable people.

He immediately went to work by shoring up our house that had partially collapsed. Turning of the water and gas lines and securing our property until a foundation could be pored. They not only do great work, but also were on the scene before other contractors, way before my neighbor's, who are still recovering from the storm. I would not hesitate to use them again.

Jim and Joe gutted the bathroom, installed new shower,window, vanity and tub. They replaced everything from floor to ceiling. They also took care of the little surprises that always show: such as fixing the water run off on the roof causing the leak in the bathroom wall and removing the mold in the bathroom. They fixed the siding under the bathroom outside the house and even sanded the front door because Jim did not like that it was sticking. Also included in the price was three bedroom doors, one bathroom door and a closet door with nice hardware, radiant heat in the floor. Considering it was a bathroom remodel we were not really inconvenienced. They were on time everyday, were professional, and timely. Plus our German Shepard dog let them in the house and she is good judge of character.

Very professional; the contract included pictures with where the work was to be done. They are very prompt, courteous and clean. Both Jim and Joe are reliable, which makes them very easy to work with. The kitchen and bathroom that they have redone for me turned out gorgeous, not to mention the roof and windows they have also done for me. The bathroom also included a skylight. Highly recommend!

They are ALWAYS available, which translates into me never having worry about where we are on a job.

Very well. They were very clean and respected my home. Always showed up on time. Completed the job on time. Worked very well with my dog!!

Jim is easy to work with. Punctual and communicative and personable.
He doesn't mind if I ask him to do something a certain way, or using certain materials, then he will do it that way, which is something I really like, knowing that the project will be done appropriately, without cutting corners. For most of the work that Jim has done, I have provided the supplies, like paint, etc. The job went very well, and I was totally pleased with the results.
