 + -1 moreI had the same Rainbow vacuum cleaner for 27 years and today it started smoking. I found Bob's Service Center who is an authorized Rainbow repair shop and took the vacuum in for an inspection by Bob. He quickly found out that the problem was serious and showed/explained how and why the vacuum started smoking and smelled like burning rubber. He stated he could fix it but I decided that looking around his shop that I would choose the option of buying a newer model but used and in excellent condition ($1300). Bob was very thorough and did not direct me into repairing our buying and left that decision to me. I definitely recommend Bob's Service Center for the next time you need a vacuum serviced or looking for a Rainbow vacuum.
