First off we found out they did not place the cement backer board behind the tub walls. When we questioned them on this they wanted to tear out the adjacent wall in the bedroom and add the backer board, which would have only corrected one of the three walls. Instead, we had them tear out the construction, add the backer board and then retile. He used sanded grout where the tub and tile meet instead of caulking it. He also used the same sanded grout around the toliet instead of caulk. Next came the tile floor. The day after he finished tiling the floor, several tiles stared to loosen. By the time they came back to work on the floor almost the entire floor was lose. Because of the number of tiles affected, they replaced the entire floor. We were told they used some older grout that must have dried out too fast. This entire remodel was a nightmare. By this time, we just wanted them out of our home. I will never call them back to my house. UPDATE: 4 years later and we are still dealing with this nightmare. After having several plumbing issues, we have found out the plumbing for the bathroom remodel is subpar. Too many twists, turns,and angles, when a more direct root would have given us better drainage. We have been told they are no impediments and no reason for not taking a more direct root with the drain pipe. The roof vent pipe was just inserted into the whole in the drain pipe ... never sealed. A leaky mess when water backs up. So now we have had to redo the plumbing, replace the water damaged walls and tiles in the basement, and hope this nightmare will end.
