We tried to settle the dispute with Window World September 2015.
Window World did not want to correct the situation.
The disputed claim was sent to Visa for arbitration.
Visa rejected Window World's Claim.
Today February 25,2016 Window World wants me to pay them directly or they will take me to court.
They quoted four to six weeks installation on which I agreed.
Four to six weeks turned into three months. (including numerous phone calls that were never returned to me)
Three months later they installed the windows.
The installers came on a very snowy day and tracked in snow, mud and dirt everywhere as they did not put down any sort of floor protection.
When they left there were cigarette butts everywhere along with caulk nozzles, packing material, insulation, pieces of cardboard and siding material all around the outside of the house where they had been installing windows.
In addition, they never removed the manufacturers labeling from the windows. Since this is a rental and I live hours away, I called Window World to have the installers come out and remove all the labeling and "clean-up". I was promised something would be done...but nothing happened.
I am really disappointed as this is the second time I used Window World. The previous install went perfect. I later found out that Window World does not install their own windows...they contract it out. Evidently there does not seem to be any specific guidelines that every Window World contracting company should follow. If you decide to order from Window World, the quality of the job will be subject to the integrity of the installers.
The windows are priced well, however, it's all the add on fees and charges that almost doubled the cost of each window.
The only reason I went with Window World again was the quality of their windows is really good, the previous installation was great, and the previous windows were installed within the six week window.
He came to our investment property and did an excellent job running through his
spiel about the wonders of Window World. He addressed the quality of their
product, their amazing warranty, and the honesty and integrity of their
business. My experience with Window World thus so far has been the complete
opposite. I signed an agreement with Window World on August 18, 2014, to
replace three outdated windows and provided a 50% down payment. Skip told me,
and it was noted in the contract, that the windows would take 4-8 weeks to
arrive and we would schedule an appointment once they were ready. I anticipated
hearing from Skip or a representative from Window World by mid-October at the
latest (8 weeks). I waited until the 9th week after before calling Skip. He
told me the windows would be ready the following Wednesday and he would contact
me then. He never called. I contacted Window World and was curtly told they
would be available November 5, and that the installation department would call
me. Not surprisingly, nobody did on that date. After calling Skip and Window
World repeatedly to no avail, I finally spoke to a representative that informed
me my windows were ready. I took the first available appointment, November 20.
A snow storm came through western New York and so Window World was unable to
fulfill their obligation. They never called to inform me they would not make
the appointment, apologize, or reschedule. I spoke to Skip the day after and he
promised me that somebody would call on Monday, November 24. Of course, I have
not heard from Skip or Window World. In the meantime, my tenants are very upset
about the air coming through the windows. Despite several unanswered phone
calls, I still have no idea when I will ever see these windows or my money and
it will be December 1 on Monday (15 weeks). If this is not resolved in the very
near future, I intend on seeking legal action.
The estimate was done July 19, 2014 and the contract was signed at that time. The salesman Skip told us that the window would be ready in 3-5 weeks and they would call to set up the install. We heard nothing for 6 weeks. I left several messages at their office (ext 4 at their main number) and got no reply. I called the salesman in the first week of September and got a call back. He told me the window had not been ordered yet because he had not measured the existing window properly. Someone had to come out and measure it again. I spoke to Kim at the office and when I asked why hadn't someone called sooner, she blamed the salesman for not following up. The salesman blamed the office saying that he had told them he was not confident with his measurements and they had neglected to follow up. They sent someone to measure the window that day (and he was as friendly as a tax audit). I was told that they would order the window and and quot;put a rush on itand quot; so it would be ready in 3 weeks. I followed up on it regularly and it was manufactured by the end of September. The earliest install I could get was for October 22.
The installers were on time and friendly. The workmanship appears to be good and they worked cleanly and that's all I ask of a contractor. I'll find out over the winter how good the workmanship and window are. I'll be sure to update the review with positive or negative feedback regarding quality.

Their price was excellent. The windows were fine, but the clean up was terrible. They left a bunch of stuff around my house. I just cleaned up instead. I was not happy. There were nails and pieces of they vinyl left and I didn't find it till the spring cause it was cold weather. Also there is a gap between the inside frame and two of the windows, and they said it was the fault of the frame, and that I had to get a carpenter to come in which I haven't, but the windows I had before fitted fine so I don't understand. I am not sure if I would use them in the future, but I might because the price is good and the windows are good and the guarantee they have on them. I was very happy with the windows, I wasn't happy with the men who actually did the installation. They were actually the issue.
"Hello, [removed member name]. We are glad that you are happy with the Windows and would certainly be willing to take a look at your installation concerns if you were to give us a call at the office to arrange a service person to come out and inspect the work. Thank you for your business and consideration."
We received very little contact regarding status and when we attempted to contact the individual who'd given us the estimate and written our contract, he indicated he was no longer with Window World and we'd have to contact the company directly.
Contacting Window World is difficult. You can call the number but you always have to leave a message for a call back. When they do call back, if you miss the call you have to leave them another message for yet another call back. It's basically a lot of phone tag. We finally got through to them and found out our installation date.
On the date of install the guys showed up and put down a tarp inside to protect the floor. As they were taking out the windows the manager (not sure if that was his actual title) arrived to oversee. While they were taking out the front window I was told that the window framing was unusual and that they'd need to replace all of the framing (for an additional $100.) The problem I had with this is that I live in a house that was built in the 1950s which happens to be from the same blueprint as every other house in the neighborhood (as well as other neighborhoods). The guy who did the estimate even told me that the company did a lot of these houses. If that were the case, why were they so baffled by the woodwork that every other similar house should have?
Once they finished tearing out the old windows, they took the tarp away and began installing the new windows. During this time they tracked in mud, knocked wood and building material dust onto the floor, etc. A guy did come in at the end and vacuum with a shop vat, but I had to re-vacuum and get the Resolve out to clean up the tracks in the carpeting. They also left a lot of debris outside in the garden under the window. They also smoked while installing and tearing out the windows which allowed cigarette smoke to waft into the living room.
Before they left I mentioned that the grid pattern in one of the sashes was broken. They mentioned that they'd replace it, but then they never came into tell me anything about when to expect a replacement. I again had to play phone tag with Window World in order to find out when to expect a new sash. Additionally, they added $270 to the cost on the estimate for the additional woodwork and framing, but they didn't give me an updated invoice showing that extra fee (I was verbally told the extra amount to include in the check). After thinking about it, I believe they overcharged me but I haven't been able to get a hold of anyone in billing.
Now that the new windows are in we're fairly happy with them. The ones in the front, however, are somewhat difficult to open and the outside screen tends to open with the window and needs to be pushed back up every time. The one in the center in the front also is difficult to close and lock due to how tightly they fit..
In general, I don't believe I'd use them again.
UPDATE: I finally received my replacement window sashes yesterday (November 14, 2013). It only took them a month and a half...I had called to see what was taking so long a couple of weeks ago and was told that the manufacturer had some problems. Anyway, the window world guy showed up yesterday. I saw him start to walk to the back with the windows and I went out the front to ask who he was (not sure he was from window world). I also wasn't sure why he'd come to the back door rather than going to the front. It seemed to me like he was trying to drop off the window sashes without installing them. I went out and spoke with him and he appeared to be someone unsure as to whether he was going to come in the house to put them in. He seemed nice enough and got them in quickly, but I question whether he would have installed them if I hadn't noticed him heading around to the back door.
