"There is a delay in this response because I wanted to speak personally with the homeowner. I did and the homeowner told me she was going to modify her review. Since that has not yet occurred I feel the need to respond. I am sorry you have some concerns regarding the estimate you received. The estimator that was out to your home acted appropriately in our opinion, based on the discussions with you and the condition of your foundation. He provided you with a written estimate for what was necessary to reinforce your foundation wall and prevent your wall from moving in any further. He also told you that before any work could proceed that you needed to have a structural engineer design a plan of repair. The "need" for this work is to be discussed and determined by a licensed professional. Our estimator is to provided you with an idea of the cost for work based on your discussions. If there is horizontal cracking in a wall and there is inward movement than reinforcement is the appropriate recommendation. I disagree with the grade of F for professionalism. Our estimator was on time, provided you with a written estimate and recommended you contact a professional engineer to assess your foundation. I do not know how we could be any more professional. I also disagree with the grade of F for quality since we did not provide you with any service other than a free estimate that was clear. As always we strive to provide our customers with the best options and the most information so they can make an informed decision."
long story short, this company was recommended by a local engineer. when talking to this company they basically expressed that this wasn't something that they would be interested in. that it was a big job. I told the gentleman to forget it, I would move on to the next contractor. i didn't want to waste anymore of their time or mine. because he was basically telling me this wasn't something they were willing to do. he told me to sit tight, he would talk to his boss and call me back. he called me back and told me they couldn't do the work. BIG WASTE of my time.
"From time to time we find that some work is not a good fit for our organization. When this occurs we try to be upfront and honest with a potential customer to let them know this. In this situation the work involved working in an area with accessibility and working conditions we were not comfortable with and this was not a project we felt best suited our skill sets. We felt we let the owner know this upfront to allow them to find a contractor who was better suited for this project. I regret that this homeowner feels that it is a waist of time to make a phone call and get feedback regarding the project. I am also surprised this resulted in a low evaluation. We feel we were being upfront and honest to minimize the time wasted by either party."
You may think that this cost is high. In a sense yes it is. However, for the amount of work that was done to our foundation and the quality of work performed it is not. These guys were very meticulous about their work and took pride in making sure it was done right.
