After the work, the surface of the entire sink was pebbly and gross. After 7 months, the cracks all appeared again, and water was leaking into the vanity below the sink. When we called about our guarantee, he said there must be a torque in the sink, making it crack; and if he fixed it again, it would just crack again. He gave us the name of a plumber friend of his to come take a look at it. So much for our guarantee. And if there were a "torque" in the sink, it probably would have cracked years before!
Response from WNYSurfaceMagic
"We informed him from the start that it was due to the fact that when they installed the sink the drain was tightened down to much. We are not plumbers. We are not the ones who installed the sink. However, due to this fact there was too much pressure on the bowl of the sink which caused it to crack. Which is why we kept telling you this, You really should have contacted the person who installed it and loosen the drain. As they way over tightened it. Sorry this is not our fault and we are sorry that this happened. However you really should have contacted the ones who installed the sink and they would have fixed it for you. That is why on the instruction sheet from the manufacturer they inform you not to tighten the drain down too much. Otherwise this would occur. So we have no idea why who ever installed it did not read or follow there instructions. If the installer would have this would never have happened. Next time please read instructions before doing something. No we did not install it so we did not over tighten it. This comment really should go to that person and not us."

Contracted on 8/6/15 to refinish counterstops and backsplash, countertops 9/26, 27 and tile backsplash on 9/17,18 for total cost$1500.00. We gave him a check for $500.00 at that time.

To begin with, he is not at all professional:
- He did not tell us that the process would not only produce VERY strong (probably toxic) fumes(he wore a respirator mask for the entire process), but that we would not have access to our kitchen AT ALL for 3 days (our medication was in one of the drawers).  No dishes, silverware, glasses, food, etc.
-He showed up with the wrong product, the one for the backsplash, not the countertops and complained that he would have to go back to get the product for the countertops, and despite being called the day before to remind him to bring something to cover the sink hole (which he said he would do) he complained that we did not have anything to use.
-He pulled a kitchen chair from my living room to stand on to tape up plastic without asking (no stepstool?).
-From the time he put on the the color coat I stated that it did not look like what I picked out.  He insisted it was correct and said to wait until the top coat was on "the colors would pop".
-He attempted to leave for the day with my kitchen doors taped  and plasticed OPEN.  When we said the doors had to close for the night, he said no, closing the doors would ruin the finish. We said that was unacceptable, and he managed to loosen up the plastic and paper and get the door almost closed, but unable to lock.
-When he left after applying the final coat, he told us WE could remove the paper the next day "just run a knife over the top". When we refused, he complained he didn't have time the next day to come over because he had another job, but finally acquiesced.
We told him again that the color did not seem right, and he insisted it was. I called him on 9/1 and asked him to come over with his tile samples because I was sure I would not have chosen the color on the counters. He refused.  I  told him I looked up the colors online to be sure, and it was not the color I contracted for.  He refused to come over stating he was too busy. A woman called on 9/2 and left a message that he would apply another color. We called on 9/3 and insisted he bring the samples over again to settle the issue, and that I was not interested in another color because we also had some issues with the quality of the work.  The finish is uneven, he missed some areas, and he got the finish on our floor.  At this point he became belligerent refusing to come over and when we stated that at this point we wanted our $500.00 back, he stated "there aren't any f***ing refunds" and hung up the phone.
After several attempts to resolve this situation through the BBB, he still refused to produce the samples.  That resulted in a recommendation to see an attorney.  The NYS Attorney General's complaint was met with a 5 page rambling denial, and resulted in their recommending we see an attorney.  This Angie's List resolution process is the last before seeking resolution through an attorney.

The product that was provided looks ok.  The product didn't completely cover the old tile, but our old pitted bathtub does look wonderful.  But the problem we have encountered is with the damage done to our home from the proess that was provided.
The fumes were overwhelming, but to my unprofessional eye, it seemed that the provider was taking appropriate actions for ventilation of the chemicals used in the resurfacing process.
Towards the end of the application process when I was writting the check for the service I noticed a layer of "grit" on my kitchen counter tops.  I brought this to the attention of the provider, he said that it was from the sanding process and that a dry cloth would remove it.  At this point I had no reason to doubt him, after all he was the professional I had hired to perform the service.
Later that evening we (my husband and I) began to notice that not only was there a layer or "grit" on my kitchen counter tops but on the end tables in my living room as well.  And after further examination it seemed that there was "grit" on all flat surfaces in our home.  Also, we discovered that the areas in the bathroom that the provider taped off  had this "grit" on them too; the vanity, medicine cabmet, and all new fixtures. Not getting too excited I tried cleaning the "grit" off as the provided had instructed.  But it did not do anything!!
The next morning my husband called the company and spoke with an employee that said she would ask the provider to contact us.  When the provider called us back (an hour later, or so, but very timely) we missed his call.  He left a message saying that there was no way a clear spray could have gotten all over our house as the product he used was white.  He advised us to use acetone (nail polish remover) on all the surfaces that were a problem.  This solution seemed impossible to us, as it would remore the finish on all our surfaces.
After several more calls to the company the provider agreed to come to our home to see the problems that were present.  However, the day before the provider was to arrive he cancelled and said that he would not come to see the damage that the resurfacing caused throughout our home.
After using several different "safe" products to remove the "grit" nothing has worked.  I am sure that the acetone solution that the provider suggested would work, however it would also remove the finished surface from my property.
If you are tempted to use this company please know the problems that could happen.  The biggest problem we have is that not only is our home covered in what we can only assume was overspray, but we are also concerned with the chemicals that I was exposed to during the process of the resurfacing and the risidual that remained in our home after the service was complete.

"All appointments, phone no. and client info. are kept in our software going back many years ago we would know if we did work for this person or now which we did not.. We looked up this address as the name didn't sound familiar. So I did a search with just the street and nothing popped up she just assumed it was our co. because there is other co. out there with the similar name as us. These people have us confused with another company. We do excellent and outstanding work and always aim to please our clients we are always neat and clean up after ourselves, We are sorry that this woman wasn't pleased with the work that the other co. provided She should have came to us. There name would be in our database. That also explains why the name didn't sound familiar. Sorry but please leave comments on the right company. AS we never did any work for these people. That is why we spend several hours doing just the prep work taping, papering and masking off all surrounding areas so that this doesn't happen. So our clients are very pleased. Next time please make sure your writing bad things about the right co. so people out there don't think we do bad work. We hope we don't see this misunderstanding again. Thank you. ."
