"thank you very much"
All in all I was pleased enough to have this company come back out for a new porch and bay window... stay tuned for a review of this years experience with them. Give them a call and see what you think.
"Thank You from all of us at House Crafters. Your review was passed on to all the workers and Bob who greatly appreciated it. Thanks Mark Casillo"
I hired "HouseCrafters" to do windows, siding, front door and storm door, shutters and gutters. They were cheaper than other companies, and he said his guys have a ton of experience. I signed my contract @ May 20th of last year...Owner said they would start in about 5 weeks, and said now is the time to sign, before it gets busy. Come to find out , he didn't even order the stuff until the second week of June, or as he said..Rule number 1...always get a completion date, and everything they say they will do, make sure its in writing. I texted Mark, the owner, July 7( over 6 weeks later), asking when they were going start , he said soon....I guess soon means a month later. Weather was perfect by the way... On July 28, he called and said something must have happened with the front door, because they didn't have it, and no one told him from B& L, that they sent it back. Called B&L,they didn't know what i was even talking about...Mark could never produce the original order for the door and storm door even though I asked him too.. @Aug 3, I get a call saying that some of the products will be delivered tomorrow. They show up Aug 5th, to start....luckily I was home... no one ever called to say when they were starting.. They started on the side of the house , which was just about done, but when the owner came by , he was livid, he said he wanted the front done first...so, they finished most of the side , without asking me what i wanted to do about the top ridge as we discussed...just did what they thought I would want . At a later point , after the sides were done, it didn't look right so we discussed and i told them what i wanted, they had to eventually redo the whole top ridge, which if they would have asked me off the get go, the whole thing could have been avoided.. Anyway, They started to do the front and realized the owner ordered the wrong size double window...so, they had to work around that and the never ordered front door. They got the rest of the sides and windows installed. If figured they would put the gutters on right away, after a few days, I called and Mark and he told me they had the gutters ordered....never told me they subcontracted them out, said they had a machine that did it. Gutters were installed two weeks later by Precision Gutter. Then I called the Mark and asked him about the shutters...he said, he didn't know I ordered shutters, which were on the contract, and that they had to be special ordered, because after checking , no one carries white raised panel shutters anymore, because too many were being sent back. What, never heard of such a thing...neither did any of the contracting places I went to. Said they had plenty in stock, but they go quickly, so when they have them, you have to get them right away. Front door came in ,with storm door and installed....( noticed door and storm door were ordered on the same date, July 28th) meaning owner lied, otherwise it would have had the original order date on the invoices for both the door and storm door... So either he forgot to order them, or the company he got them from screwed it up. Anyway installer cracked the side of the door where the lock comes out. I only noticed it because I seen nails sticking out of the door, with glue around it . Apologized and tried to give me some money off. I refused, since the door cost a lot of money. So, they had to order a new door. This was after arguing with the owner, who said my door will be on the front of his house, if he is ordering a new one. Then told me later it wouldn't fit his house. Funny , because guess where the door is? On his house...In the mean time I noticed several windows didn't seem right. They weren't level, because apparently the guy that was on the inside, told the foreman on the outside the windows were even/square/plumb, etc. and they weren't. Foremen was ticked and said well he can come out and fix then now. Needless to say, when he did come out, he couldn't budge them , so the foreman came out and tried to fix them the best he could. Since they were brand new construction windows, the only true way to fix them would be to take all the siding back off around the windows ,adjust and nail the flanges back again. I wasn't about to go through all that, since I already painted the molding, walls, etc. Windows still aren't even, but Anderson said it was the installers fault, and installer said manufacturers defects/fault. Owner from HouseCrafters said the Rep from Anderson that came out from Pa to look at the windows can , well , i cant repeat, what he said when I told him the that the rep said windows weren't installed right. After installing the new front door, which for some reason was now over a 1/2 higher then the first one the foreman installed. Foreman couldn't explain why the second door was higher since he didn't install it. And also why the guy put a nail in the same spot where the door was cracked before, said there was no reason to, which now , has small cracks by the nail... I noticed a couple scratches on the storm door, which wasn't installed right either, and piston was installed in the wrong spot and was taken back off and put in the right spot....so it took them two months to order a new one. Also they cracked the molding around the garage door...not a big deal...but don't put it back on, and cover it up with white silicone. So, they had to fix that. After I filed my complaint with the BBB and everything that had to be fixed...the owner called me , swearing at me, etc, for filing a complaint. and told me I better be careful.... His response to the BBB was that I am anal, and everyone was sick and tired of me watching them , and calling companies to see what the problems were since I had to because he wasn't doing it...etc... He said even the gutter people called him and said they were ready to walk off the job because of me...funny, because I was only there inside my house for the first 20 minutes, and left for an appt and came back when they were just about done. The guy gave me his card for future references etc, and left...no issues... did a great job... So they were ready to walk off the job when I wasn't even there for the majority of it...more lies... I asked the owner about the bottom of the gutter that were away from the house and soffit...he said the wood must have been curved/ angled at the bottom. doesn't affect the performance. I told him when we first talked, that if there was anything wrong with the wood to let me know, because I had a claim with the insurance company...and we could take pictures...he then says ....that wasn't in writing. And who was going to take the pictures...him? I stated pictures would have been taken, by him, one of his workers or by me. But guess according to him since I didn't have that in writing, that conversation never existed. At one point , they also put the vinyl siding on wrong,( wrong direction, with overlay) and had to take it back off...and redo it.. I went back and forth with Anderson who sent me new sashes...but now, no one to install them. The owner of HouseCrafters lied so bad in his responses to the BBB, but they said it was a he said this / you said this. Owner said he replied to every email, text, call etc within 24 hours...not true, I have emails that he never even read, just deleted/ ignored them according to aols status update. i could say so much more.....unreal the amount of lies. Oh yeah, and the windows that came in , never came with screens.....so, that took all summer to get them . Oh, and the shutters. Apparently he changed his mind, and told the BBB that they had them when was originally there, but when he went to go get them, they were all out...not what he told me, guess he thought I would believe that . Draw your own conclusions about HouseCra

"THE ROOF AND SIDING WAS DONE BACK IN 2012,---- House crafters called both husband and wife Both swear they never sent any review to angies list. In fact they thought I was crazy for calling them. So this review was sent in by a fake email using this homeowners address ! probably the company who didn't get the job, and angies list will not remove from web site. I CAN'T BELIEVE ANGIES LIST CAN'T STOP THIS !! HOW CAN ANYONE TRUST THIS SITE."
"Sorry you feel this way but I would like to clear up or re fresh your memory 1-your roof was completed on may 15th 2015 and siding June 5th, job was not paid until July 10th. We were very patient about payment so accusing me of demanding is a outright lie when I waited for 2 months after roof completion with out 1 phone call. 2- After 3 phone messages by our office and 2 mailings including sticking a note one on your door to please return our calls, we were finally called back 3 weeks later saying you didn't think you had to pay until you received a final bill. 3-our office never received a phone call about any nails until July 10th a good 2 months after completion which was the same day we wanted payment. We return as many times as customers want or need until satisfied. 4- you were given $520 discount for unapplied plywood. 5- there was never a demand for more money !! , you and your husband paid using credit cards under different last names, which didn't match the last name on the contract so we had to double check to get our records right."

"Thanks for the great write up and choosing House Crafters for you roof project"
Rich, Dwayne and Brandon). They took their time to make sure things were done
well ? they did not rush through just to get the job done. All of them paid
attention to details, which I appreciated very much, and accepted any
input/changes I requested. For example, I requested that ice shield is put on
the front of the house instead of Tyvek wrap (that was specified in the
contract), they told me that this is probably not necessary, but did it as I
requested. And did not charge me extra for this (ice shield should cost more
than Tyvek). They were also highly professional, nice and friendly. They would
clean and organize their tools every day before leaving.
The salesman (Bob) is a very nice guy and not pushy at all!
He will not try to sell you what you don?t need. I originally wanted siding
made of cement boards, but ended up with high-end vinyl product (Monogram 46),
which was cheaper at the end, very durable, and much easier to maintain.
The price I paid was, based on 3 other estimates,
reasonable. They were not the cheapest but also not the most expensive. I would
rate their work as well above the average. Paying average price for well above
average work was a great deal for me.
If you decide to hire this company, my recommendation is to
sign the contract early since they are usually busy and not available to start
your job immediately.
I would definitely hire them again (and plan to do so).
"thanks for the great write up!! I will pass this on to the crew and Bob to confirm that when you go the extra mile on detail good customers notice. Thanks again Mark Casillo"
The contractors came to our house and found a much bigger problem. The roof on the existing addition was collapsing and and the ceiling was bowing inside.
We were not impressed with any of the contractor's so far until House Crafters came. Salesperson, Bob arrived on time. He was professional, knowledgeable, patient and very hard working. He stayed late that day to complete the estimate and he even came back a second time to give us another estimate for more work we wanted done.
This being our first major home improvement project, we really didnt know what to expect. We were put at ease after seeing the AMAZING job the framing crew did, led by Paul and his team Chuck, Jerry, and Mike. The crew arrived early the first day and everyday until the project was completed. The original shingles, plywood and rafters were removed and new rafters of the correct size were put in. The pitch of the roof was raised which led to the removal of 2 back windows. A new architectural roof was put on to the entire house and garage and a 2 ply flintlastic was installed on a low sloping roof in back. The family room addition was gutted and reframed, insulated, electric updated, drywalled, painted and trim work was done. After that, new siding for the entire house was put on along with shutters, 2 new steel doors and a storm door.
The framing team worked well together. They were professional, knowledgeable and organized. They made suggestions and alerted us of concerns they had that we, as homewoners, would not have known. This team proved to be true DIE HARDS who worked in the frigid, hot and humid temperatures. They were always working and never seemed to take a break. Thanks guys, YOU ARE AWESOME!!!
Ed, the owner of House Crafters, would drop by time to time to see the progress of the project. He too, made suggestions and was very accommodating. Due to the removal of one of my windows, he had my entire bathroom repainted free of charge. He also exchanged my shutters for another so that it matched the door.
THANK YOU ALL AT HOUSE CRAFTERS FOR MAKING MY HOUSE A HOME!!!!
"Thanks for a great letter. ED MILLER"
