Mike G.
Jan 2010
He said right from the start that it would cost $800 plus materials, but that if he found additional rotting he would charge $25/hour to remove the wood and fix it. There were a few places where John easily could have added many extra hours - but he didn't. He showed me exactly what he was doing at each step, and why he was doing it. More importantly, he took steps to ensure the problem wouldn't happen again. As he replaced the windows, he also replaced the (rotted) sills - with a composite, no-maintenance material - and he built them in a way that the water would drip onto the roof - not back into the house. He also looked at two windows that were installed (not very well) by someone else in the past, and fixed the sills on those. Overall, I feel that he worked on my house the way that he would work on his own house.
