Attention all City of Buffalo residents: DIAMOND CONCRETE IS NOT LICENSED IN BUFFALO AS A CONCRETE CONTRACTOR. Do NOT hire them to do concrete work. They are only a licensed LANDSCAPER.
The story: Diamond was subcontracted to do the concrete portion of a job at my property. Josh and his incompetent crew screwed up so bad that the ENTIRE concrete needs to be torn out and re-done. My contractor claims they have worked with Diamond on many jobs before without issue. So, I decided to check up on Diamond Concrete. I called the city licensing office, it turns out that Diamond is NOT a licensed concrete company. They are only licensed landscapers! They should not be pouring or working with concrete!! This is evident with their shoddy work at my house...
1) They didn't know how to read an architect drawing, their measured grade was incorrect (discovered this way too late)
2) They never showed up on time to work and when they did, they worked no more than about 4 hours per day average
3) They destroyed my neighbor's backyard with their equipment (my neighbor's driveway was the only access to my backyard)
4) They broke one of my glass block basement windows tearing out the old concrete
5) The forms for the new concrete were not straight in places
6) They covered about 2 inches of my bottom section of siding on the rear of my home with concrete!
7) The finished flatwork was HORRIBLE!! Uneven, pitched wrong, lumpy, you name it....
8) They dumped concrete waste in the back corner of my neighbor's yard
Josh the owner was not present during any of the framing or pouring. After coming home from work and wetting down the new concrete with the hose, you could really see HOW BAD this job was! None of it was totally flat!! You could feel the lumps as you walked on it. The pitch was supposed to be AWAY from the house, instead I have about 1/2" of water pooling and running into my foundation. This job was botched beyond belief and when my main contractor saw it they agreed and were shocked. They agreed it needed to be completely done over. They were not happy to hear that Josh had disappeared when he was supposed to be supervising his workers. I told them I did NOT want Diamond back on this job.
The next day is when I called to check Diamond's license. I was shocked to hear they ARE NOT a licensed concrete company!! I immediately called my main contractor, told them this, and they were shocked as well... I told them to get Diamond's equipment off of my property and I do not want to see Josh and his crew back at my house. When they came to get their equipment, they dumped leftover concrete into my neighbor's backyard! Unbelievable.... I cannot believe this company is getting away with doing concrete jobs in Buffalo.
My contractor has now subbed the work out to another company (who is legit) and they will have to tear out and re-do EVERYTHING that Diamond has already done. They will also complete the footers and retaining walls that Diamond never got to yet, and thank goodness they didn't! This whole experience has been a total nightmare.

Response from diamond concrete
"This will be quit simple. We are not nor have we ever been landscapers, you must have us confused with another company. We do rent out equipment to other contractors that has the name Diamond Concrete on the equipment and we have in fact never worked for this home owner. Please provide us with a contract that says Diamond Concrete on it to prove we are the people or you will hear from our lawyer very shortly regarding this matter. Im sure you had a bad experience with your contractor but Diamond Concrete was not your contractor. Todays date is 9/13/12 you have 10 days from this date to prove to Diamond Concrete that you have a contract with them and they did the work, remove this slanderous post or you will hear from our attorney. Again we are not landscapers, and we are not the company that provided work for this woman."

We actually liked them a lot. We liked the young man a lot. He was prompt. The crew was a bunch of nice guys. When they were bringing their heavy equipment on to break up our existing driveway they had cracked a piece of the sidewalk so we had called the owner up. He didn’t even come out to look at it, he said “no problem, I will fix it” and he had it fixed the next day by the guys. There were no problems what so ever. He didn’t charge us for it. He didn’t even bother to come out and look at it. He said he might sit there and argue about it but he said no problem, it was probably the machine that did it.
