On August 30, 2024, asbestos inspector Olakuine found through your platform came to perform testing at my property. He stated that the report would be completed within two days if I paid an additional $100 for expedited service. I agreed and paid this extra fee in good faith, along with the original inspection cost, for a total of $650. This is money I cannot recover, and the loss is a direct result of this contractor s bad business practices. On September 5, 2024, he told me the report had been emailed to my architect. A month later, my architect informed me he had never received it. On October 18, 2024, I contacted the inspector again. He apologized, claimed he may have emailed the wrong person, and I provided my contact information and my architect s details once more. He promised to send the completed report. Instead, nothing was delivered. In June 2025 eight months later my architect again asked for the asbestos report, which he still did not have. This has completely stalled my project and caused significant financial loss and wasted time that I will never be able to recover. Since then, I have contacted the inspector numerous times. Every conversation was met with a new excuse: he was in a basement, on a train, in the Empire State Building, or there was too much wind to hear me. On July 28, 2025, I finally reached him, provided my contact and architect s information for a third time, and was promised the report the next day. Again, nothing was sent. After that, he began avoiding me entirely. The last thing he told me was Angi can t do anything to me. He went further, saying that Angi only cares about money and will not take any action on my behalf. He would answer calls from unfamiliar numbers but hang up as soon as he realized it was me. My architect has since told me he is aware of multiple complaints against this inspector. This experience has caused: $650 in direct losses from the inspection and expedited fee, directly caused by this contractor s bad business practices. Tens of thousands of dollars in additional damages from project delays. Months of wasted time that cannot be recovered.

The date to start was pushed back a few times on both sides it got done a little earlier than promised

The representative arrived at the site in a timely manner. He was very thorough and he answered all my questions and finished the job on time.

We had hired them to perform asbestos testing at our church and were promptly paid. They came out and performed the service but submitted the report with the wrong address. When asked to fix the address due to the disapproval by DOB they refused to fix the info and would not answer calls or emails..

I had tried another asbestos testing entity, not from Home Advisor, and they wanted $650 just to show up & have me give them a tile & adhesive sample to be analyzed! I searched on HomeAdvisor & Sentinel was able to beat the price & provide a prompt lab report for less with a reasonable rate. Thanks Sentinel & Home Advisor!

I hired a different company, recommended by friends, to test our basement for asbestos. They found it (in heating pipe insulation, about 18 linear feet) and gave me a quote of $2400. I started calling around for quotes and Sentinel gave me a price of $1600. Kunle of Sentinel also explained that I needed to hire a third-party air monitor â he sent me the (very confusing) regs describing the need. The original company said there was no monitoring needed because the job was under 25 linear feet. I ended up calling the NYC DEPâ s asbestos unit (718-595-3623 if you ever have questions about asbestos in NYC) who explained that in fact for a job of under 25 linear feet, air monitoring was not required, but they very strongly recommended it. So for $550 I found a third party company to air-monitor. Meaning for $250 less than the first guy quoted, I got the project done with air monitoring instead of without. Kunle was a very nice guy on the phone, not at all a hard-sell, and answered any questions. He and his one-person crew came in and were in and out quickly and cleanly. The air monitor report came back clean. All good.

Very good professional experience. I used Sentinel Environmental for the testing of tile flooring in my finished basement following a sewer/ water backup. The test proved positive for asbestos tile but luckily negative for asbestos in the dust. The person who came to my home was very polite, professional and thorough. The examiner showed me his state and city certifications as well as the companyâ s. Turnaround wS very fast and prices were very reasonable. I would recommend this company 5/5.

I received a call literally within 5 minutes from all 3 referrals after sending the inquiry on Home Advisor (on a Sunday). I interviewed all 3 pros and chose to hire Sentinel Environmental because he appeared knowledgeable and his prices were most competitive. The inspector arrived at my rental property within 3 hours of our discussion at the exact time as agreed.
