I was skeptical because it's NYC and we have so many shoddy and sketchy construction and service providers. But these people were great. Cost was decent and they scheduled in just a few days--and on a Sunday!!
They went way above and beyond my expectations:
Arrived early.
Cordial and didn't talk your head off.
Respected the walls, floors and furniture.
Cleaned up after themselves many times during the process.
Not that much sound, all things considered--they're putting up a wall after all.
Dealt with our difficult ceiling (many pipes and fixtures) and extended the wall all the way up at no extra charge. Other places refused to deal with our ceiling.
Though they made no claim to soundproof quality, I'd say about 80-90% of sound is muffled, and this with mostly single-paned glass for the wall.
They came back when I had a minor issue that I hadn't brought up while we were arranging the work--came the next day and fixed it for free.
The end product looks great and we couldn't be happier.
Process:
Two nice guys arrive early.
One measures.
They both come in with the appropriate studs, doors, panels, etc. There are a lot of materials, so make sure they have room to put it all down or lean it safely.
They BUILD the wall on premises, so make sure you have at least the recommended 4 feet clearance on both sides. I'd suggest more than that, if you can swing it.
Occasionally they will leave to retrieve more materials and on breaks, etc.
Keep in mind that these are temporary walls, so they won't be as 100% fitted as permanent walls. They came very close, and most people won't notice any difference. But if you look very very closely there are minuscule sliver gaps where our existing walls and ceilings are uneven and the temporary wall couldn't quite match up exactly.
All in all, much more professional, cool, and accommodating than just about any other service provider with which I'd dealt in NYC.
