"Thanks for the kind words [member name removed]! much appreciated!"
"Thank You [Member name removed], much appreciated! Bob."
"Nice to know that they're s still people out their who appreciate a reputable service provider! Thank James."
Plumber actually arrived early and was very professional, quick and efficient.
"Member I believe you have the wrong company, I have no record of performing any for you! Regards, Bob Sessa."
"I am proud of the profession I’m in and go out of my way to treat each and every client with the respect and service they deserve Angie’s list member or not. Unfortunately this member didn’t think so and I honestly don’t know why. Maybe they’ve never really had a bad experience by a service provider and don’t know the difference. After 30 plus years of providing what I believe is a better product, I finally realize that I can’t please everyone.” Respectfully Submitted Robert Sessa N.Y.C. Lic. Plumber 521 N.Y.C. "Thank you for the kind words Member! I appreciate hearing you value the service, please keep me in mind for your next plumbing problem. Regards, Bob."
about communicating his expected time of arrival. He was very
professional and friendly and gave a fair price for the work done. I
would definitely use him again!
"Thank You Member, and Merry Christmas!"
Robert Sessa was great. This all happened around the time of Hurricane Sandy and Robert was not able to come out right away (understandable considering the weather), but he was still attentive and asked if we could email him a picture of the tub and drain so he could have a visual to go with the description I gave on the phone. As soon as the weather allowed, Robert came to the house and looked at the problem. He agreed, old house - unique problems. It would be difficult to get parts but he would fix it.
Robert came back on the day he promised. He fixed the tub and put back the flooring when he was done. (He didn't break my kitchen ceiling.) He cleaned up afterwards. His work is excellent.
The cost was what had been agreed upon. The cost was high, but considering the quality of the work, professionalism and respect you receive, the cost is very reasonable.
Robert is a craftsman with great integrity. He has our thanks and recommendation.
"Thanks Member for the the kind words and great review! Give my best to Mom and Dad! Regards, Bob."
Bob reset a PVC drain pipe (which was probably not glued properly by the original contractor), replaced the waste offset pipe in the drain and ran an electric snake through to clear the clog. He then checked the entire drain line for leaks. The stove had to be moved to do this. He put casters under the stove legs so that the tile floor would not be damaged. He also replaced the sink sprayer assembly (customer provided this part).
Bob works professionally (he's calm, neat and careful). I don't think that his prices are out of line compared to what the competitors charge .I got a knowledgeable, experienced plumber who performs repairs properly and guarantees his work. I would not hesitate to use his services again or to recommend him to family and friends.
Mr. Sessa came on time to look at the door and told me what he felt needed to be done. He explained his hourly rate and how long he anticipated the job to take. I received an email with his quote attached to it and I decided to go ahead to have the work done. Mr. Sessa showed up promptly at 9am to do the work. He was friendly, professional, and clean. The job was done right and I couldn't be happier with the work he did.
He arrives, surveys the job and quotes me $300 for the faucet alone. I blanch. How long will it take? He hems and haws and won't estimate the time needed even though he's already looked at and underneath the sink and seen the hardware. Oh, and his faucet installation fee always starts at $300, he says. At this point, I'm sorely tempted to tell him to take a walk, but he knows that I know that I'll need to pay him his estimate fee and then start over from scratch with a bunch of flakey handymen who may or may not call me back. My faucet is busted, and I don't have any more time for this task, let alone another day to stay home from work dealing with it, so I give in. I imagine that most people do, and he must know this. The whole thing made me feel like a total rube.
But I can't resist asking him: Why not just say on your site (or on the phone, at least, when I tell you that this is a faucet job) that the minimum faucet price is $300? He has no good answer for this, probably because there is no good answer. The truth is that I wouldn't have even called had I known that $300 was the minimum.
The faucet work took 45 minutes. So I paid him over $6 a minute. That seems like an awful lot for a faucet installation. Yes, he is a (licensed, I think) plumber with lots of experience. He deserves a living wage. But $300 strikes me as just too much. So now you know what the deal is when you need faucet help from him, even if he doesn't and won't post this on his Web site. Are there other minimums he maintains and other services that his $125 hourly rate does not apply to? I have no idea. I'd ask if I were you.
The pluses were these: He called back quickly. The work seems good. He replaced my luggage wheels for "free," though that was after $50 to put up the shelf (a few new holes in a concrete block wall in essence) and $300 to do the faucet.
Bottom line, I ended up feeling taken advantage of, and I would not use him again. And within five minutes down below, I'm sure you'll hear his side of the story.
"I think the member needs to get some new reading glasses. If you scroll down the my pricing page beyond "basic handyman" work it specifically states all plumbing work will be quoted flat FLAT RATE only. The member also failed to mention he was an Angiest List member in which case the "service call charge" would have been free. When asked, he said he got me from the Brownstoner, I extend my complimentary service call charge to Angies List members only. He was quoted over the phone the standard service call charge of $39.95 plus tax and that I don't provide " free estimates". When presented with the numbers he baulked as do all the price shoppers who frequent Angies List and stated that he had no choice and that I had him a no win situation. I reminded him that he did have a choice which was to pay my service call charge and I'll be on my way. He was pleasent, the job when very well and their was no indication that he was the least bit unpleased and when I read this report I was to say the least perplexed. The member said his super would have done the job for $100.00, so the question is why did he put himself in this position of being "taken advantage of" member please! it never ceases to amaze me how consumers view people tha work with their hands, maybe he wanted me to pay him for the privilege of working for him. Any other venders who read this post should think twice about working for the member,"
The issue has been resolved to our satisfaction and the contractor who completed the work was professional and prompt. Mr. Sessa also billed us over $400 for consultation and to provide a short term fix, which we also felt was unusually high.
Lastly, I want to mention that we received a bill for services from Mr. Sessa around 12/19/10, and we were not able to send out payment until 1/3/11. However, in the interim, we received an email from Mr. Sessa threatening to 1) report us on Angie's list and 2) report "multiple violations" to the NYC Building Dept. because of the delay in payment. In our opinion, a two week delay in payment certainly does not warrant this type of threatening communication (particularly via email and during the holidays, where delays in communication are the norm).
"The individual posting this report "IS NOT" the individual who called or I communicated with through the whole process. Angie's List has some serious explaining to do! They should police the members like they police the venders who advertise with them."
The floor was cemented and after a couple of days Bob started to put things back. Last to go in was indoor outdoor rug
"Thanks for the kind words, for the folks reading this report, the falling drawer was not the result of my installation. The shelving system was not like that of other quality systems I've Installed. Still, I happy to secure it in place for you!"
He replies in a timely fashion to your e-mail inquiries and takes a complete inventory of the work you would like done.A couple of days later we had a detailed contract and a proposed start date.
He was polite, courteous and very, very patient working around my elderly mother (who is notoriously difficult to work with or around!). This man is a saint, or rather, he should be nominated for sainthood.
I wish he worked in Manhattan because we need many small items addressed in our own home and, as many of you know, these "small" issues can really add up in determining our quality of life, or lack thereof!
"Wow Chi Chi! Much appreciated and the pleasure was all mine. Thanks, Bob."
"My pleasure member, say hi to the kitty's!...Bob"
