PUBLIC VAN LINES INC

The entire experince was a complete nightmare from start to finish. They arrived at our home at approximately 9:00 am and did not leave until well after midnight. We moved out of two-bedroom, 1 den apartment. We were given one price quote from the representative just to end up with a final bill of almost three times the amount quoted. Additionally, the movers did not give clear descriptions on the inventory list and they ultimatley "lost" a box, the only box that was lost, which had every single, high valuable electronic item we owned to include playstation and x-box gaming systems, every blu-ray DVD, sony handycam, a laptop computer, a craftsmans hand drill, laptop computer, sony camera. We later discovered this was by design--it's clear we were targeted from the very start. We have tried to no avail to contact the GM in the New York office (our move was initiated out of the Los Angeles office) to resolve this issue. We made immediate contact as soon as the items were discovered missing. As we unpacked box after box it became evident that the boxes were unpacked and repacked. The contents of each were in complete disarray. There were items from the bathroom packed in with kitchen items, there were upstairs bedroom items packed with items that were staged in the downstairs room. We had one box that contained all our family portraits that we had packed ourselves, in our own box. We later discovered that box had been opened and repacked into two boxes belonging to the company. Initially, what prompted us to start opening boxes was the fact that the two gentle that handled the New Orleans leg of the move were trying to set up my children's beds but couldn't locate the screws. I made a call to the supervisor (who previously told me to call him if we had any issue and provided his personal cell phone number) to ask where the items would be. As we were looking for the parts, we started to notice the state of the contents and then discovered all the electronic and small. high value items were not there! We kept records and we immediately made a report with the movers on the day they were unloading at our Louisiana destination. We continued to call the individual named as the manager in the Los Angeles office, in addition to the on-site "supervisor" who was in charge of the move out of California. Initially, they took our calls but later would cease all communication with us. As military veterans, who fought for the freedom of this country and all that live in it, we do not feel we are deserving of what has happened and do not want any more citizens to fall prey to this situation. We explained the situation to the Los Angeles Manager, we called the New York office as directed but still no resolution. We were basically told they are "continuing to investigate the matter", nothing more. We continue to call only to be hung up on. There also seems to be a representative that is going by different aliases.
