They did a great job, Finn the crazy dog survived and they followed up and have been doing so ever since.
I've had dogs for more than 30 years and suggest this practice as one of the best I've known.
I took her to Park Slope Vets on a Sunday (yes, they have regular hours on Sundays!) because she was shaking her head and looked like she might be getting an ear infection. Since I hadn't established her care in the new city yet, it seemed like time. My friends had highly recommended Dr. Maddon, but I ended up seeing Dr. Vinitsky because of the short notice. I explained the terror situation on the phone when I made the appointment, so they were ready. First we saw the vet tech (who's name unfortunately I don't remember). After taking her history she sat down on the floor, sideways to Lily as a good dog-handler would, and quietly fed her treats. She did this for probably 10 minutes, just calmly talking to me and gradually getting her to come closer. Then Dr. Vinitsky came in and did the same thing! This was a very busy Sunday afternoon, and yet they took all the time in the world to gain Lily's trust, no pressure, no rush. Dr. Vinitsky then brought in her own dog (ziggy?), a small, very calm presence and put him on the exam table with Lily. He rode the table up from the floor with her and the exam proceeded from there. Ziggy and I stayed at her head and I fed her treats continuously while the tech held Lily and Dr. Vinitsky examined her. No muzzle, no struggling, no unwanted fluids. She got 4 shots that day (boosters plus Lyme vaccine). The only thing she wasn't able to really examine were her teeth, because that would have been too much. Once we let her back off the table she was relatively relaxed, still taking treats from both the tech and Dr. Vinitsky.
3 weeks later I brought her in for dew claw removal surgery. She wasn't anxious coming into the place and went in the back without a struggle. The surgery went well, came in under cost (including a dental cleaning while she was out) and I was given very clear, complete instructions for her post-op care. The next day when I couldn't get her bandages off by myself, they fit me in immediately and did it for me, no charge. Dr. Vinitsky did it herself, because she didn't want anyone else handling Lily. She then came out and talked to me about some concerns I had, again without any sense of a rush or hurry.
I will confess, I have avoided taking Lily to the vet when she probably needed it, just to postpone the trauma for her as long as possible. I no longer feel that way, thanks to Dr. Vinitsky's excellent care. I have no doubt the other practitioners are equally adept, and as I said earlier, I have heard good things about Dr. Maddon, but I can personally speak to Dr. Vinitsky's skill and compassion.
