Dominick responded immediately to the request for service. He spoke with my mother in great detail on the phone and explained that she just needed a less expensive service. He spent a great deal of time on the initial call as well as the actual day of appraisal answering all questions. He and his team went well beyond the required service and really put my mother at ease. Dominick and his team are outstanding professionals and dedicated to their clients. I highly recommend their services and would definitely use them again.
I needed to get a 5-story brownstone appraised for estate tax purposes as well as for prepping our eventual listing. Domenick got back to me within hours of my request, and we had an appraisal scheduled within a week. The appraisals were returned to me on schedule via email and post. The initial figures were less than what I expected, and once I confirmed my findings with other listings, I contacted Domenick with my concerns. He immediately reviewed the appraisal and compared his comps to mine, and within a couple of days agreed that the property needed to be compared with a tighter grouping of comps. Once he did this, his new value approached what I expected, and he re-issued the appraisals at no additional charge.
The property is located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, where its address matters almost more than the condition of the building: looking at a comp between Central Park West and Columbus is far different than one a block away, between Columbus and Amsterdam. Domenick was not hesitant to admit that a mistake had been made, and was very quick to fix that mistake. I have tremendous respect for his doing that.
Don't let the $2,300 bill discourage you from using Neglia Appraisals: while a little high, remember I needed two appraisals of a 6,000 sq. ft. building, in a Landmarked section of the Upper West Side -- it was a very complicated appraisal, when compared to a 1,500 sq. ft. ranch home on a corner lot somewhere else. Be more concerned about his customer service and desire to do the best job possible. I would use Domenick again any time, and recommend that others do so as well.
