John came to me through 3 reliable recommendations - he's been making Park Slope beautiful for over 20 years. Two weeks total, meticulous job, incredibly conscientious, the nicest guys, and very reasonably priced. Two other companies bid us to take almost 3 times as long and 2 to 3 times the price! Our space is very unusual as there are no hard edges - everything is curved (coved or bullnosed) - which was a challenge that they were delighted to take on. Mark is John's master plasterer, a charming Irishman who has been plying his trade since he was 13. Their standards for quality are high, and if a curved edge didn't meet them, Mark would not hesitate to do it over until it did. John is not the kind of guy to nickle & dime you - as a matter of fact, he really wanted to throw some Venetian plaster in on one wall, but with all the curves we couldn't take him up on it. John is old school - no email or website - but an awesome find and the kind of contractor you can count your lucky stars for finding.
