The tile was well-priced and they had some interesting selection, though utlimately we had to source from a few places to get exactly what we wanted. The counter top we got was of excellent quality and was installed well, cut perfectly and is exactly as they described it. We have had some issues with "service" on the counter top, but that's not really Empire's fault.
Where Empire went wrong was with the cabinets. When they were first installed, they were not installed level which caused subsequent problems with backsplash installation (which happnened much later so the problem wasn't immediately evident). The quality of the cabinet boxes seems to be fine, but the veneer they used on the doors is incredibly cheap, and started coming off within 2 years of installation. It is impossible to "repair" as they suggested because of the process used - this is not somethng that can be touched-up. After three years with the cabinets, we are looking at refacing them at a cost of almost what we paid for the cabinets in the first place. When confronted about the problem, Lucy at Empire told us that they knew they had problems with a subcontractor at the time they had our cabinets made, but she refused to do anything about the problem and stated at this point it would be impossible to fix it because of the problem matching the color (which I don't believe). 
I would not order cabinets from Empire ever again. I probably wouldn't even give them my counter or tile business again either, considering the poor customer service.

While the cabinets that they constructed were of decent quality, overall this was a very stressful experience.  We hired Empire to design and build our kitchen.  The design process felt very rushed, and in the end came out with errors.  We wanted a double sink, but the cabinet was built for a single.  They managed to correct this before installation.  They did not order sufficient stone for the countertops and we had to wait another month and a half for delivery.  When it was delivered it was cut wrong.  When they came back it was cut wrong again!  When we complained they blamed us, they blamed our contractors, and failed to take any responsibility for incorrectly cutting the stone twice. We tried to talk to them about it and they hung up the phone.  We had to make a trip to the showroom to try and work it out.  On the third attempt they got the size right but only by joining a piece onto the slab.  Cheap.   
We had a separate butcher block counter made based on the measurements they provided.  These measurements were off significantly, and we have to now have it redone by the craftsman. 
We were lied to and strung along about delivery dates.  While part of the problem may have been a language barrier, we felt that  it was more poor business practices than mere communication issues.  Any changes to the project were met with defensiveness rather than seeking a solution.
