i read so many five star reviews (low cost, quick turnaround) that i figured this was a no-brainer. we had a simple job--two 30" rectangles of mirror mounted flush in a corner of our bathroom. i called and got an estimate over the phone, and scheduled a site visit to confirm the estimate, but it could only be a week later. when he didn't show up the next week i called the office and was told that they had rescheduled for the next day because our job got bumped. fine, but you might want to contact the client you're rescheduling. they then rescheduled us for first thing the following morning. they called the next morning to say that wouldn't work either. bumped again. they eventually came around late that day, cable-guy style. it then took another couple days to confirm the estimate. from the confirmation and payment it took two more weeks to produce two small rectangles. today, as i was about to call the office for a status update after two weeks of silence i got a call from them saying the installers were on their way and would be at my house in 15 minutes. thankfully i was home. i asked why they hadn't bothered to schedule the install, and the same woman who flubbed the initial scheduling told me she left two messages yesterday. i can only tell you that there was no call received, and my phone log shows zero calls yesterday and zero voicemails.
at the end of it all the mirror was installed, but the two pieces are about 1/8" off flush. it's not terribly noticeable, but when the extent of your job is to cut pieces of the same height and install them flush you should be able to hit it. their site says industry standard deviance is 1/16" and they missed.
bottom line: the mirrors as installed look close enough to what we wanted that it's fine. that said, one of the two women answering calls in the office is either completely incompetent or lying, and it causes a lot of problems. on top of that, start to finish this process took over a month for a very simple mirror job. i only hope that the silicon they used to mount them holds.
"We take issue with your one star review given you stated that everyone at Crystal Glass was completely nice but then proceeded to accuse my staff of being incompetent and, worse yet, untruthful. Since I am the owner, I went so far as to pull phone records and there were several calls to you about scheduling. You even had a pleasurable chat with my secretary in which you informed us that you were a stay at home father with small children who had various activities to schedule throughout the day. We took note of this in our attempts to schedule this work. When the installation was completed, the very same secretary who you deemed incompetent followed up with a courtesy call and when hearing that you were less than excited about the results, she continued to question you until you revealed that you were actually unsatisfied. She immediately placed me, the owner of Crystal Glass, on the phone. I made every effort to rectify the problem and offered to go over right away to fix your mirrors. However, you downplayed the problem and said no, everything was fine. Why then proceed to go onto Yelp and write a negative review after you made it clear it was not a issue? In the future I hope that you take into consideration the reputation of the companies you are reviewing and I would love to speak to you further about this matter if you choose to do so privately."
He responded promptly to my phone calls and emails. I found the price to be very fair. He was very polite and professional. I could tell shortly after meeting him and listening to him discuss how he works that my antique armoire doors were in good hands. He did warn me that I must be careful not to slam the doors and he was extremely generous and gave me a large piece of extra mirror to hold onto for the future in case a mirror gets broken or damaged down the road. I am certain that this was a lower end job for him but he never made me feel that way and I truly appreciate that fact. By the way, the doors came out beautifully! I would definitely recommend him and hire him again in the future.
The installation went smoothly, even though it was done after the date that was promised and a lot of phone call-chasing. The quality is fantastic. I am very pleased with the product.
