I'd been wanting to get custom blinds for our condo for ages but I wasn't comfortable just ordering them online and finding my own installer because of the potential hassle and headache if something wasn't exactly right.
I found Budget Blinds of Brooklyn on Angie's List and am so glad that I did. My experience with Dan (liaison), Eric (rep) and Miguel (installer) were fantastic, I would recommend them without any hesitation. Dan handled scheduling for the initial consultant with Eric - Dan inquired about what I had in mind (honey comb black out shades for the bedrooms and light filtering shades for the living room, all in neutral earth tones) so that Eric could bring samples for me to select from. Eric arrived punctually as scheduled and was very helpful in helping me to select the colors and styles - he provided lots of info based on his experience with other customers and his familiarity with the products. Eric also measured the windows and advised on the mounting options (inside mount for the windows since they're recessed and on the door itself) and placed the order accordingly. I was able to pay the deposit by credit card using the Square service/adapter that Eric had for his phone and I received the receipt almost instantly.
Once the order was placed, Dan kept track of the production schedule and contacted me to schedule the installation based on the expected delivery time for my order to arrive via FedEx from the factory. Miguel arrived as scheduled to install the blinds, he was very professional and experienced. It turned out that some of the blinds' dimensions didn't fit the windows so Miguel boxed them up and they were sent back to the factory to be fixed - while this delayed the process, I didn't have to deal with communicating with the factory, I just had to wait until the right blinds arrived so I had to wait another week or two. There was not extra charge or hassle aside from having to wait for the next installation.
In retrospect, I would have asked Eric to measure the windows from both the top and the bottom (they're tall and narrow) because it turned out that my windows are not perfectly symmetrical. I would have also asked for the detailed dimensions of the order (these weren't on my invoice) so that I could just double check. If I had done both these things I think the blinds would have fit the first time around.
All in all, I am so glad I went with Budget Blinds of Brooklyn. Our place looks so much nicer with the blinds installed and my experience with the team was top notch.

Updating my review below because Eric completely remedied the situation. He was very professional and accommodating.

This provider installed blinds in my condo five years ago and informed me that they would be under warranty for five years. The blinds recently broke and I called for replacement. They sent out a representative who inspected the blinds and informed me that they would call back with an installation replacement date the next day. I didn't hear back for a week at which point I was told that the manufacturer would not replace the blinds. After getting over that disappointment, I have called back several times to replace the window covering with another product, since my husband and I are selling our condo. However, after five calls and messages, I have not heard back. Really disappointed in this business and their lack of responsiveness/customer service.

The experience with Budget blinds was a great one. I found them to be flexible and very responsive. I was able to find a solution which suited what I asked for, at the right budget and then we worked together to instal. They were always very responsive and my experience with them has been one of the best for any home service provider I have worked with. I like my blinds and my curtain, which were not standard fitted blinds. Customer service here is the real bonus.

The owner of this franchise, Eric, was great in every way. Super professional, friendly, and trustworthy. I never felt like I was getting a hard sell--or any "sell" at all. The blinds came when promised, cost what he said they would, and were installed quickly and easily. There was an error with the order and Eric was willing to do whatever it took to fix it. We're very happy customers. I gave the price a "B" just because I wish that blinds in general were less expensive. But we didn't want to go the Home Depot route so paid a bit more. If you are thinking of using Home Depot definitely still get a quote from Eric and compare. You might be surprised. It sounds like I work for him, but I don't. Just happy.
