DANIEL G.
Jun 2014
After failing to show up or call on two scheduled appointments, Blizzard Mechanical finally did appear for the third appointment, albeit very late, with no apology for being late or for the prior failures to show up. One technician cleaned the filters for our two wall units in our bathtub. Then left the bathtub filthy and clogged.
The other technician then told us that routine maintenance--to "blow out" and apply acid to the two units--would cost $1,400. We declined, thinking this sounded exorbitant. As it turns out, it was. A reputable company has agreed to perform the same service, even moving the units off-site for a full servicing and thorough cleaning, then returning and reinstalling them, all for a total of $530. Another reputable company quoted us $600. Perhaps Blizzard figures that if they string you along long enough, by the time they come you'll be so desperate that you'll pay anything? Maybe they just wanted to collect their extremely high visit fee and move on?
Blizzard Mechanical charged us $305 for that brief appointment. They had told us that the visit would be $250. They did not mention the $30 "fuel charge" (Their office is only 7.6 miles from our apartment) until they presented us with the bill.
They failed to answer my questions in subsequent emails--including about the nature of the surprise fuel surcharge and why their quote was so high--and the responses they did give were rude, aggressive, and belittling. Among the worst customer-service experiences I've had in my life.
