"Thank you so much for your review. Joe"
"Big Apple Moving, I think, moved this customer 7 YEARS AGO! and they lodge a complaint now? 7 years later? Do I have to say more? I have no way to defend myself. I want to say to Angie's list, that because (if) this job was done 7 years ago, it should be placed behind my 17 "A" reviews I had in a row, all jobs done after this one. I also looked up on wikipedia, why there is a statute of limitations. "The purpose and effect of Statutes of Limitation is to protect defendants. There are three reasons that support the existence of Statutes of Limitation, namely: (a) that a plaintiff with good causes of actions should pursue them with reasonable diligence; (b) that a defendant might have lost evidence to disprove a stale claim; and (c) that long dormant claims have more of cruelty than justice in them""
"I don’t like excuses but for many reasons I find it best to give the other side of this story. Firstly, I was not lazy. member called my company at the end of the month wanting to move (in a few days) at the end of the month. My company was so busy that by the time I could get to member's home to give him an “in home” estimates, his move date would no longer be available. I told member this. Member had the opportunity not to use my services because I could not give him an “in home” estimate. Then why did member book with my company anyway you ask? Because all the other moving companies he called were already booked! I only had one more truck available. I explained to member that we work by the hour and regardless of a phone estimate or an in Home estimate, I get paid for the hours it takes to complete his job. The job would not have cost less if I gave Mr. Montana an “in home” estimate. It was a tough phone estimate with packing, moving supplies and moving charges. I did the best I could. I did not need to fool, lie cheat or lowball member to get his job. I turned down over fourteen jobs after he booked with my company for May 31st. The job was not almost 50% more than the estimate. It was 25% more than the estimate. The job became a two day job because the building he was moving into had an elevator 5PM closing that we were not informed of until the day of the move. We would have worked past 5PM (as we have done many times in my 34 years in business) to complete his move in the “promised” one day timeframe. We can’t move unless the building allows us to move. He does not mention that I did not charge him the travel time for the second day of his move. If one of my men said “this would not have happened if we gave an in home estimate”, he did not mean the job would have been less expensive. He meant that the estimate might have been more accurate and therefore member would not have had the additional 25% surprise concerning the final cost of the move. I know this does not sound right but member was lucky to get any good mover (which we are) with such short notice. This is not said with an attitude, it’s just a fact. As far as wasting any time with member's move, that’s just not true. If we use one man or fifty, we are professional, quick and above all, honest. Member never called me to say how unhappy he was. I wish he would have. You don’t try to fix something unless you know it’s broken. What do I have to say to member? I’m sorry you feel I let you down."
"First I want to say I am not unfamiliar with people with disabilities. I was in a “health class” as it was called back in the 50’s, and had the wonderful experience of growing up with people who were “different”. I was different too. I was in that class, with one teacher from the 2nd grade until I started High school. These were some of the best times of my life. You also learn that just because a person has disabilities it does not make them a good, kind person. People are people. I was called by the MS Society to help this customer move. I gave the Multiple Sclerosis Society a flat guaranteed price based on the list of items supplied and the fact that the customer would be completely packed and ready to move. When we arrived, the crew supervisor called the office to say that the customer was not even close to being prepared to move. Because of the nature of this job, I told my men to do whatever had to be done. We would complete this job for the price quoted even though we would be supplying moving supplies for free and working much longer than anticipated. We did his move for the exact price quoted to the MS Society. Here is the real story. This customer had another company scheduled to move the machine that helps him get in and out of bed. This is not a small machine. In fact, it is quite a large machine and was NOT included in my estimate. The truck was packed with so much furniture, boxes and miscellaneous that we couldn’t fit anything more. I told this customer that, if he wanted, I could come back the next day to move the machine but he would have to pay for it. We moved the machine the next day and the customer was livid that we would charge him anything more than the original quote to the MS Society. He was angry that he had to pay for anything on his own. At one point, the MS Society got on the phone with him during the move and told him that if he did not stop his inappropriate behavior that they would not help him in the future. This customer states we put his furniture in the van and held it hostage is a boldfaced lie. He says we charged him more money just because we could, another lie. I went out of my way to try to help this person. I moved much more then quoted and helped him pack too. He repays my kindness with this review. This customer should be ashamed of himself."
