I had a severe case of mold in a bedroom closet last year that my building management wouldn't test. So I called Big Apple Mold and spoke to David, who took the time to listen to my issue and recommend next steps. After calling around to other testing companies, I ended up hiring Big Apple Mold to run a mold test for me. David came, was very patient and thorough in showing me what he was doing and even threw in an extra swab to be tested for free. I got the results back about a week later, which I sent to management. They finally agreed after getting insurance involved to remediate the problem with an outside remediation firm. David and his team were nothing but helpful and even recommended a public adjuster I could contact in case I was unable to get an equitable resolution to the mold problem in my unit. Would highly recommend if you need a mold test and report (including lab results) that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

Excellent company and service. David was incredibly understanding, and his team did an incredible job removing my entire floor, prepping the sub floor for an install and removing and remediating all mold. The price was higher than I was able to afford at the time, and David was understanding and incredibly accommodating in lowering it to fit my budget. This is a great company, and I highly recommend them.

Big Apple Mold Removal is the absolute worst company and I regret ever hiring them. The reason I hired a mold specialist was to ensure that the mold remediation was done properly and did not contaminate the rest of my home. They did not adhere to safety standards or guidelines for proper mold removal. I am shocked at the way they worked and I would never recommend them to anyone on Angi’s list. First, they used standard grey duct tape to affix a very thin and completely useless plastic sheeting to my walls which left marks that cannot be fixed. I will need to repaint every wall in my basement or remove them completely. Second, they damaged a radiator pipe that leaked for days. Third, they threw away a perfectly good and in working order toilet without consulting me. The foreman then lied to my face and said it wasn’t a good toilet (a flushometer which is a more expensive toilet than a standard tank, which makes me think they stole it for themselves). Fourth, they left their air purifier machine running in my basement for 5 days without contacting me as to when they would pick it up. I was the one who reached out (twice) to remind them to pick it up. When someone finally came to retrieve it, I asked about the multiple bottles of laundry detergent that were in my basement that were no longer there. I was told they would never take or throw away anything without checking with the homeowner first and I reminded him that he disposed of my toilet without consulting me. I am writing this review so that no one else experiences this level of unprofessional service.

"[Member Name Removed], I am truly sorry that you had such a negative experience with my company. This type of experience should never happen. We strive to please our clients with our work, and for you to express such complaints is very alarming, and it is something that I take very seriously. I wanted to address your complaints here, even though we spoke at the time over the phone. 1) I'd like to point out that we take safety and health concerns very seriously, the crew members and especially the crew manager assured me that they did follow the safety guidelines. 2) The plastic sheeting that we used is the same plastic sheeting that we use for all our jobs, which is an industry standard - 6 mil polyethylene plastic sheeting, which is necessary to complete a proper remediation. The taped used for containment is stronger than average Painters Tape and may have removed a thin layer of paint. 3) I understand that your radiator pipe was damaged, but no evidence was brought forward to us that proved that my crew did in fact cause that damage. 4) The issue with the toilet is disheartening, because I can assure you that none of my crew members had any desire to steal a used toilet. The source of your problems was from the bathroom and the toilet was disposed of with the rest of the building materials. 5) We did leave the air scrubbers running for longer. This was only in your benefit with no extra cost. I hope this has helped clear some things up, and ultimately all I care about is serving my clients as best as possible, so again I am sorry that you felt these frustrations during our experience. It is never our intention to make anyone upset. We stand by our work and would be more than happy to reimburse you because you are not 100% satisfied with the results from my crew. We have been in business for over 15 years. We strive for our clients to be 100% satisfied. We would like to make things right. Please reach out to my office to speak to me directly so we can overcome this together. -David T. Owner"

Our experience with Big Apple Mold was excellent. Of the remediators I interviewed to remediate mold in my mother's apartment, they seemed the most knowledgeable, David, the owner that is. We had numerous roadblocks to overcome, including unusually high insurance requirements by the coop. Big Apple was always positive throughout this lengthy and often discouraging process. Annabelle their office manager made everything so smooth and was always super prompt in answering questions or requests. And patient too. When we finally got the green light, the team they sent was well trained, pro active, hard working and friendly (Kirk,Jaime and Kevin) . You just had to ask once, and they went the extra mile. Patrick the team leader was outstanding, personable and informed, taking utmost precaution around the numerous antiques. They also worked well with the air monitor that we were required to hire. The job was finished on schedule and air scrubbers were left to run for several days. When we finally got the mold test results back, mold levels had all been reduced way below the acceptable level. I am taking the time to write this review because this was a great burden on our family in our our effort to create a clean environment for our aging mother. Big Apple made it happen.
