Excellent Company. Very happy with them.

I have been an Approved Oil customer for years. Friday evening I walked in the house to find that the radiators were lukewarm. I went into the basement and found that the oil tank was empty. It turned out that for some reason their last delivery was in early December (there should have been another delivery the last week of December). I called several times and the last time I called they said they couldn't deliver that night it because it was so late but that first thing in the morning they would call and I would get a delivery. This was just after midnight and the thermostat in the living room said it was 59 degrees. I woke up 9am, got dressed and called them again and spoke to Mike. He said the order for the oil and the service call to get it running were placed but all he could tell me was that the order was on the truck and I would get a delivery today. I went into the living room to hang up the phone. The thermostat said it was 43 degrees. I spent the next few hours in the kitchen until about noon when the oil was delivered. I went downstairs but resetting the boiler didn't work. I called several times to find out when someone would be coming to start the system. The last time I called, the woman said I called for oil at 10 and got it at noon so they were really doing well. I pointed out that I started calling at 10 PM not AM and she said times were irrelevant and someone would be here eventually. It is now 3:00pm... The tech showed up at 3:45 and by 4:15 he was done and the system was working fine. The tech was really good and even made some suggestions when I asked him some questions about adding additional radiators. Let me stress that the man that delivered the oil and the tech were friendly top notch and professional. They are not what I am complaining about.

I am not using them now because they don't come in my area anymore. I was absolutely pleased with their service. I have used them for 5 years.

Had to leave this company because of their high price of oil and their constant mistakes on the bills (in their favor of course).  Plus, two days after they send out the bill they start dunning you to pay, like they are going out of business.  You speak to the owners and they act like they don't care if they have your business and the secretary answering the phone is just rude.  This company bought "Walley Fuel Oil Co." a few years back.  30 years with Walley, we never had a problem.  Only excellent service.  The minute Approved Oil bought Walley we started having problems and rude phone calls.  Enough already, didn't need this aggravation and pay the highest price for heating oil in Brooklyn.

Service person arrived that same day though about 1 hour later than originally promised,  found the problem part and fixed it quickly.  Service man is friendly and very knowledgeable about my old furnace (installed originally in 1925).

They are totally reliable. Their service seems to be very good. I had an old furnace and it keeps getting things wrong with it but they've usually managed to solve the problem. They did do one repair job that I was very disappointed with. It was fixing the pipes that lead to the outdoors, they didn't secure them well so they actually fell in so I was unhappy about that. They give you half a day and they are usually there within the half a day but not always. I think they're quite professional overall.

Avoid! Dishonest company. The company told me that when I was charged $4.29 a gallon in December
that was a mistake on the part of the billing dept. I said he should
then refund me the difference between that and the correct price. He
said he would do it in the new year. After leaving several messages, I
finally reached him, and he said he would refund me the amount by check
(should have been less than $4 a gallon). We have spent thousands of
dollars with this company. But he gave me his word. When I called him
back three weeks later, he said his owner did not agree. if I came back
to the company, I could have a $100 credit. He said, "Who says what
price is right, anyway?" I said, "You told me what the right price was."
Then he got rude. I never again want to trust that much money and the
heating of my home to such dishonest people.

They are pretty good. Whenever I need a repair, they are prompt. The guys that come out are really good. They are steadfast in finding the problem and getting it fixed. Especially during the winter, they are quick to get here. Their vans are well stocked. They usually have the parts with them. I have been using them for several years. Their prices are competitive.

They provide oil delivery, and service in the toughest weather and are above average and understanding when it comes to payments! Been using them for over 30 years, will continue to do so and highly recommend them.

I think they are really good.  I've been here 25 years and we still have oil.  Some other company sold their company to these people, but they are really good.  The repair people are really good, they show up on time and stuff like that.  They seem to know when you need oil, too.  The price is whatever the going rate is, it's pretty close to what gasoline costs.  It's #2 diesel.  I like everything but the price, but I don't think there is much you can do about the price of oil.  I think the mechanics are pretty good. They make the delivery, give you an invoice and send you a bill.  The money is usually due a month after the date on the bill.

Several years ago, Empire merged with Approved Oil. Since then, customer service has deterioriated. Their customer service staff have, at various times, been incompetent, or rude and heavy handed, or both.  Last year, when seeking to set my "lock-in" contract price, their staffer told me he expected the price of oil to decline, so I should wait.  Stupidly, I waited.  Of course, the price of oil went up, and my lock-in was higher than it would have been.  After informing  Approved that I will not continue with them this year, they asked my reason.  I said I might convert to gas; I might just go with another oil company.  At that point, the Approved employee's tone immediately hardened, and he said, seemingly as a threat, they would send someone out to close up my oil supply pipe with concrete, because "it's the law."  He didn't ask whether I had converted to gas; whether I definitely will convert; and he didn't ask for any written confirmation of any of these possibilities.  He simply state, that Approved would come over and seal my supply pipe with cement.  When I told him he should not touch my house, he insisted that "it's the law."  When I pressed him on that, he was unable to tell me what "law" he was referring to.  I informed them that IF AND WHEN I convert to gas, it is my responsibility to dispose of the oil tanks and supply pipe, and that any effort by his employees to seal that pipe with cement would be treated as trespass and vandalism.  Finally, he backed down and asked for written confirmation that I am cancelling my account.  These people at Approved have become heavy handed, to put it mildly. I don't have experience with other oil companies in Brooklyn, but I would advise that you look elsewhere.

THIS COMPANY DOES AN ALRIGHT JOB. THEY SPILLED OIL ALL OVER MY FRONT YARD BUT THEY CLEANED IT ALL UP. THEY GO OUT OF THEIR WAY TO MAKE THE CUSTOMER HAPPY, I CAN SAY THAT. I AM HAPPY WITH THEIR SERVICES.

THEY DID A GREAT JOB! I HAVE USED THEM FOR NINE YEARS AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM. I FIND THE PRICES VERY REASONABLE AND I RECOMMEND THEM TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY.

I LOVE USING THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE RELIABLE, DEPENDABLE AND PROFESSIONAL. I HAVE USED THEM FOR MANY OF YEARS AND I HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS COMPANY.

THIS IS A GREAT COMPANY. THE SERVICE GUYS ARE GREAT ALSO. ANY TIME I NEED THEIR SERVICE I NEVER HAVE A PROBLEM GETTING A QUICK APPOINTMENT. I AM HAPPY WITH THIS COMPANY.
