Afederal Exterminating is a full service company, servicing the boroughs and Long Island. Afederal Exterminating is a highly experienced company in all areas of pest control and in termite proofing and elimination. We use only D.E.C approved chemicals. We guarantee all our work to the customer’s satisfaction. We service residential and commercial properties, and have termite proofed thousands of homes. The most difficult termite situations are our specialty. We perform chemical and baiting procedures. We have experienced personnel with thorough knowledge of difficult procedures and the newest materials available to the industry. We called Afederal who responded promptly and treated the ground in all the areas on the side of the house where activity was observed (by law, they are limited to this). They also sprayed any areas that we were able to expose that were found to have termite activity. We also paid a concrete mason to replace the sidewalk along the side of the house, which was cracked and not properly graded, allowing standing water to create an environment hospitable to termites.
The following spring we began to see winged termites (swarmers) coming from the ceiling on the top floor near the front of the house. Again we called Afederal, and they responded promptly and treated the ground in the front and front-side of the house. We also had the roof checked by the roofing contractor to be sure that there were no leaks.
We have not see any evidence of termite activity since. We are planning to keep my termite contract current.

The technician showed up and sprayed down the two apartments. It took about 45 minutes and went very smoothly. I thought the cost was very reasonable.
However--- three weeks later my new tenants called me and said they were seeing tons of bugs in the kitchen. The very next day I got a call from A Federal asking if I wanted to schedule a new treatment. I was surprised and assumed they'd called the wrong customer and told them they'd just treated my house three weeks ago. The guy informed me that they recommend a treatment every 3-4 weeks. I have never heard anything so ridiculous in my life.
This morning, 5 days later my second tenant who had been living in the unit for almost two years said that every since the treatment they've been seeing tons of bugs where before they had seen 1-2 over the whole time there.
The idea that a pest control service can cause more bugs is ludicrous. And they obviously know it because they're trying to ensure that their services are used every 3-4 weeks.
Previous to this I have had preventative pest control come in once every 6-8 months with absolutely no problem.

However, if you're having a problem before that, we always suggest to call the office so that we can send another technician out right away. Sometimes when servicing an apartment/home, it is possible for a nest to be sprayed causing them to come out more. We'd be more than happy to offer you another service at no cost to ensure that we take care of your problem."

The chemicals we use are considered "green" products as they are made from plants (pyrethrum) and give off a very low odor if any at all. Therefore, they are not hazardous to your health.
