Description of Work: I recently inherited my mother's 1980 grandfather's clock that had not run in 20 years. Howard made a service call and assured me he could fix it but it would only last maybe 3 years. I already knew before Howard showed up that I needed a whole new movement. He did not try to persuade me to order a new movement. Like I said, he was willing to fix the non-working movement. He repaired other problems with the clock, helped me move it, balanced it and explained all the details of the clock, which I very much enjoyed. You could see he was a fine craftsman and loved what he did. When he left that day, we agreed that he would order me a new movement. As the clock was only made for 2 years, of course, it did not have the normal movement, and he told me he would go home and check on the price and call me with the cost. He no sooner left and I received a phone call explaining the cost and because he wasn't sure if the part was in stock, told me it would be 2 weeks if it was in stock, but 6-12 weeks if it wasn't. Well, I was very surprised when he called less than a week later and said he was ready to install the new movement! He came here and took his time to make sure the movement was working correctly, even offered to look for a new pendulum as mine was tarnished. I cannot say enough about his professionalism, knowledge and his downright hospitality. I enjoyed our conversations about the different clocks he had worked on, and I will definitely hire him again if needed. Most importantly, I will highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for a wonderful craftsman like Howard. Thank you, again! P.S. He also called a week later to see how the clock was running!

Description of Work: I was interested in possible antique clock repair prior to marketing them. Mr. King was very candid about the estimated cost and the value of the clocks after repair. I will/would definitely use/recommend him due to his professionalism and honesty!

After asking about the clock and sizing up the nature of the problem, he informed me that I could easily do the job myself with parts from a craft store, if I wanted to save money. I was impressed with the fact that, although he was willing to do the job, he gave me a less expensive option, which I went with. The advice he gave me on the phone was all I needed.

Description of Work: After a couple of hours of trying to repair this 24 year old Grandfather clock, I made the decision to replace the mechanical portion which seemed reasonable and comes with a 2 year warranty. His service was excellent, arrived on time and did not charge us for this service call. The new clock is scheduled to be installed, today 4/15/2013.(Arrived at appointed time and is working on the new clock movement as I write this review.) I would definitely recommend King's Clocks to all.

Description of Work: We needed our 20 year old Sligh Grandfather Clock repaired and cleaned. The clock would no longer chime or strike on the hour and the weights would not move. Howard King of Kings Clocks came himself. He was on time and did the necessary repairs and cleaning.
