I mostly corresponded with Chris Walsh via email to set up date, time, and the specifics of the job. He came to our apartment and gave us a quote on the job.
Chris and his partner Eddie showed up on time to refinish/reglaze my bathroom tub and tiles and to do some regrouting work. They also removed my old sink and installed a new sink. The had taped up the wall so the bathtub/tile paint would not get onto my regular walls.
They did the work within the day. They had to go to Home Depot three different times because as they were stripping my tub, they clogged it, so they had to go buy a snake. Then they didn't have one of the proper pipes to fit my new sink, and they went a third time for another item for the sink. I was glad that they took the initiative to go to Home Depot to buy the proper equipment and not just make due with what they had.
When they were done, Chris had told us that some dust might settle and that it would dissipate within 2 weeks.
My issues with there work:
1. The tape they used to tape up the walls totally ruined my walls and left black scuff marks all over it so I had to repaint.
2. They didn't glaze the underside of my soap station, my towel bar, and they missed many spots where the tile meets the wall. That part was originally black so I could definitely see were they missed it.
3. Some of the grouted areas had holes.
HOWEVER, Chris did call me the next day to see if I was pleased with the work. I told him overall, it was fine, but that I was unsatisfied with certain areas. He told me that he would come back to fix those areas and we scheduled an appointment.
On the scheduled date and time, Chris did not show up. I called him and he said that he forgot to put it in his calendar and if he could come the following week.
The Following week, Chris did show up do fix the work stated above. We had a disagreement on the grouting. He said that they agreed to only regrout where was needed... I agreed with that, but his idea of and quot;as neededand quot; and mine were totally different. He did say that he would see what he could do and did regrout some areas that I did not think were good enough.
Also, he did not recall telling me that the and quot;dustand quot; would disappate within a couple of weeks. That part of the tile was spotting with air bubbles. However, he did eventually reglaze that part.
He asked me to check everything before he left. I did and saw that where he painted was shiny so I it looked okay. He also was nice enough to remove the paint that got on my windowsill from the original appointment.
The next day, after my husband removed the tape, I noticed that when Chris had come back to fix the errors of the original appointment, he used a totally different white so it was terrible. Also, the tape he used a bit of the original reglazing off so I saw my old tile color.
I was not happy at all. So I emailed Chris and told him that he used a different white and that he had to come back to fix it again. he did not respond for a few days so I emailed him again. He eventually responded saying that his partner would come to fix the errors and he would contact me. His partner did not contact me after a week so I emailed Chris again. His partner finally contacted me this Monday and he came today to fix the mistakes.
If you decide to hire them, know that they are on time and will come back and fix errors. Get ever detail in writing and make sure its worded correctly because we disagreed regarding the grout. Overall, my tub is 100% better than it was before. I am just not happy that they had to come back three times to get it right as it took a lot of time out of my family's schedule.
