My 70 year old concrete driveway was in pieces. Fazal Elahi a.k.a. "Ali" of M.S. Construction Company had done work for my neighbor. The neighbor recommend I include him among the three bidders for this job. I looked at prior work for each of the contractors and Ali had numerous customers in the neighborhood and his workmanship was superior to the other two. He came with a crew of two laborers and together they wheel borrowed the old concrete out to a dumpster, removed soil to prepare for the new pour and set the forms with the proper depth and pitch. Ali supervised the entire job and showed pride in the quality of his work. The result is a well executed new driveway that will last for decades. Around $7 per square foot is a fair price for a 6" slab. With the driveway finished to my satisfaction I decided to have Ali replace my concrete front entry stairs. He matched the pattern of brick on the house wall and did a craftsman like job overall. His price of $3500 was reasonable. When the stairs were finished I had him re-point the mortar in my chimney. He not only did the chimney but, on his own initiative, he re-pointed the front foundation wall to match at no extra charge. He was easy to work with, punctual and experienced.
