My 83 year old mother & I live in a 3 family house with the 2nd floor rented to a family. While verifying past unrelated work had been done, a city inspector decided that there needed to be lead testing now that our tenant had two small children. That was the beginning of a nightmare of city misinformation, broken appointments, appearances w/no appointments, very frightening threats despite our best efforts to comply, & attempts by our city gov't rep to help us. From the first time I spoke to Stefanie at JES I felt like I was in the hands of someone who actually cared. She's extremely competent, helpful, and patient. The testers & workmen were on time & conscientious. When the tenants seemed not to be home, the men didn't just leave for the next job; they called the office & the office called me & I was able to contact the tenants.This took 20-30mins, but each person at JES was determined to make every effort to get the work done that day as scheduled to save us trouble from the city. **Update to original report: The lead abatement work Jerome Environmental did failed to pass inspection three times. Some of the issue was with their own work, some was with work done by a company they subcontracted part of the work to (the dust wipe tests). Not only did the work fail inspection, it raised a new violation by doing something that the city had not asked for. In addition to paying for repeat work, I had to pay to have another company fulfill the city's requirements so the work could pass inspection. My first assessment was based on working with the company's administrative assistant. When the work failed inspection the first time I was put in touch with the company's owner, who's first reactions whenever I had to deal with her were always rather defensive. The owner did write off part of the cost, but was not willing to take full responsibility for the additional expense incurred by the repeat work. If I had to give an over all grade again, it would be D.
