GUN HILL FENCE

They were very professional. I had thought of running part of the fence along part of my neighbor's fence but he advised I did not need to run it along that side. I appreciated his honesty and not just taking my money. They were prompt and cleaned up everything once the job was done. He did a great job and I would definitely use him again.

After I posted this review on Google a representative from Gun Hill Fence called me to tell me that the owner does not want to send out a truck just for $110 and he still wanted $375 for a job for which he quoted on a WRITTEN estimate a cost of $110. I reiterate my initial review, which is not to use this company. They are unable to grasp the concept of servicing a small job for a customer because that might lead into a larger job in the future and/or referrals from other customers who might have larger jobs for them and even more referrals. Instead, they want the larger job right away; they want immediate gratification and are unwilling to be the type of company that a homeowner can call because the homeowner knows that they will get quality work from them at an honest price, no matter how big OR small the job might be.?

Too pricy for the amount of work that had to be done.

I received two estimates for the installation of a PVC perimeter fence. They asked me about the lowest estimate and beat it, so I gave them the job. I came home from work and the fence was installed. A few days later the column supporting the gate was loose. They came back and fixed it. They never installed hardware (a handle to open/shut the gate) and when I inquired they told me it wasn't part of the original estimate. They came back and installed the handle. They weren't bad, just had to come back numerous times to actually finish the job.

Last year, I called Gun Hill Fence to estimate the cost of installing a picket fence in the front and a privacy fence in the back. I thought the estimate was fair and decided to go ahead and use them for my front fence only as money was a factor. I was very pleased with their work and knew that I would use them again when I was ready to replace my back fence. I was also told that because I would be a repeat customer they would give me a good deal. Fast forward to this year, I called to let them know I was ready. They sent the same sales rep out, who was very pleasant,  punctual, and professional. I was told that they would have to figure a new quote. He took measurements and left the proposal in my mailbox the next day. This is when it went downhill... The previous year, I was quoted 3666.00, for removal of old fence, installation, and cleanup. When I opened the new quote....I was greeted with 4825.00$ price tag. WHAT?? How is that a good deal for a repeat customer. I understand that prices go up but 1200.00 was a bit much. I went to the company's office and was greeted by the lot manager. I explained the situation and was told that because I didn't have the original quote with me there was nothing that could be done (that part I understand). He then asked me a little about the job that I wanted done. I began to explain and then tried to break it down and discuss the pricing logically (ie. if a panel costs 150.00 and I need 10 panels, etc)... this ended in an argument. I was then told that I could get an estimate from another company. I called back a few minutes later and we were able to agree that the sales rep would be the best person to handle the situation and I would receive a call on Monday. I contacted the sales rep that Monday and again he was helpful but the price did not change (this time I had the original quote). I ended up finding a company that did the job for 3200.00. Overall, Gun Hill Fence has good employees and does great work... however, the job was way overpriced and loyalty meant nothing to them. 

From what they told me on the quote, I would refer them to a friend or family member.

My friend used them and she found them to be pretty good but the prices these days for fences seem off the wall.  My girlfriend used them and was satisfied.  I haven’t dealt with them personally, but GUN HILL FENCE has been here I think for 30 or 40 years.  My friend was satisfied with what they did.  I was going to use them myself but something else came up.

It was easy to schedule a visit, and the proposal arrived promptly. Darrow found fencing that would match a previously installed (by another company) fence around the front of the house. It took a few weeks for the railings to be fabricated. Installation went smoothly, and the railings look great.
