When I initially called to request a repairman, I was informed that the cost to replace all of the pipes under the sink would be $495. (The trip charge was $125 and was included in the cost to have the work performed.) When the plumber evaluated the repair and contacted the company to obtain the pricing, I was informed that the cost to replace the copper sections would be $250. The plumber explained that I could pay an additional $100 to replace the additional sections noted above, and explained that my current set-up was for a clothes washer. (The pieces that were not replaced were two sections of galvanized pipe and a right-angle pipe that joined the plumbing inside the wall.) As I want to install a dishwasher, I elected to pay the additional cost to save money in the long run. The plumber was nice, efficient and replaced the pipes quickly. I am rating the price as "C" only because I do not know what is an appropriate charge for this type of repair. Update: In March 2011, I discovered that these same pipes were leaking. After having them replaced a second time, I examined the pipes replaced by Citron and discovered that a required gasket between the pipes missing. The second plumber charged me $125 less for the same repair. I was unable to reach Citron Bros. to discuss this issue.
Description of Work: Section of copper pipe under kitchen sink had disintegrated, resulting in a dime-sized hole in the pipe. (The pipe would have crumbled away had I grabbed it.) The plumber replaced the vertical (copper?) section from the drain, the next two copper offset sections, a brass t-shaped connector (in order to use a dishwasher in the future), the elbow pipe at the bottom and an additional offset which joined a galvanized pipe.
