Brown's Jewelers

I chose Brown's because of the positive reviews on Angie's list, which included clock repair. I didn't know whether jewelers near me do clock repair. It's not near where I live, but is in an area that I visit. They were as described in the reviews. It took just slightly longer than they estimated because they had to order a part, but they called me when it was ready. I'm very happy with the result.

I was given three possible clock repair stores by Angie's List that were no more than 1 mile or 2 from home. I chose Brown's Jewelers because of its proximity, and because it was an Angie's referral. John, the owner took a look at my clock, which is a collector's item, and had not been serviced in five years. He gave me a $345.00 price which is listed in his book for this kind of repair. John gives out this kind of repair to a clock repairman who is a professional in this area. I thought the repair to be somewhat pricey because of what had to be done. The clock chimed but the time mechanism was not working. However, when John explained the process that takes place to fix the timing mechanism for this kind of clock, I decided to let him repair it. John also promised me a one year guarantee on the repair. I got my clock back in three weeks, and it works beautifully. The timing mechanism was fixed, and my clock cleaned. John was so accomodating, that I've given him another job. I gave him a wrist watch to repair that was made in Italy. He is very communicative and I like his follow-up. In addition, he went out of his way to deliver my clock.

A very pleasant experience. John was honest and throughly explained to repairs to my items. My watch batteries were changed while I waited on the first visit. The chains and the earrings were picked up on a second visit. The repair on one pair of earrings took an unexpected turn and John explained the situation when I went to pick them up and said he would honor the price quoted and not charge any additional fee. I will definitely go back with any jewely repairs, a nice feeling to walk out felling confident you have just dealt with an honest business owner and staff.

They are very polite. They aren't pushy. I will use their service in the future.
