The a/c technician (Paul) was competent, neat and personable. The installation went smoothly and on schedule. The estimate was provided in a timely way, and Scott Carey was able to answer all our questions. We were very happy and would hire them again.

The gentleman who came to fix it was excellent. He was polite and professional. The part I did not appreciate was the pushback I got from the person I scheduled the appointment with. I have an Annual Agreement, which I pay good money for, and thought it gives me priority access when I actually need service. The pushback and lack of urgency I experienced when trying to schedule the repair was quite disappointing.

First I wanted to mention, I rarely do reviews, and I know most people don't usually do them unless it's negative feedback, but I am so impressed with this company, that I thought I needed to pay it forward and take a moment of my time to say 'thank you'!! Carey & Walsh has been servicing my equipment for years and have always been great, but I have to say I was mostly impressed with the professionalism and charm of this company's salesman, Scott. Recently I had to replace our furnace and he was extremely responsive and quick to thoroughly answer all of my questions and I found myself trusting him right from the start. When it came to the actual service, his men were in and out quickly and were very polite and courteous as well. Very clean too which was very much appreciated!! Most importantly, my family had consistent heat for the rest of the winter! The best thing is, is that I know if I had any questions that C&W would be readily available and willing to help us out unlike many other contractors out there. Will continue being a loyal customer. Thank you!!

After a fairly quick inspection, one of the members of Carey and Walsh said he would get back to me right away with an estimate on a whole house humidifier. After not hearing for a week, I called back and the rep still promised that he was working on it. Still have not heard back...not impressed

The repair person came on time and was professional. I had to ask a lot of questions because the individual was not very communicative about the issues that my system had. On his recommendation, I agreed and they changed more than a few things to make sure that the unit was working properly including changing a small pipe and replenishing freeon in the condenser. The person doing the repair said that all should be good but the air conditioning stopped working again in a few weeks. This was the second time this provider had come in and repaired our unit and it stopped working again. Got a different provider in and the other provider said the job was not done properly and that they fixed it. No issues presented itself after that through out the summer and winter season with the system.

CW was called because of their locality and "reputation" with some neighbors.  They arrived late, did a quick diagnostic and said we needed to replace some things.  After first time, still not working so they were called back and they put another $600 of work into it.  A couple weeks later, still not working again and this time gave us an estimate of over $2500 additional work.  Needless to say, they were not called back for the additional work.

Boiler broke down within 2 months of preventative service work being done. Work was done poorly. And company billed me again for replacing switches and valves they had replaced a couple of months earlier.

The basic work took about two days. There were some problems with the work, e.g., the installers severly damaged an interior door and did not report it to me or, apparently, to their employer. They also did not properly seal duct work, which let hot air during the winter and cold air during the early summer leak from the system. They dislodged an outside electrical connection box and left it on the ground, again without reporting this to anyone. They were otherwise sloppy, e.g., lots of dirty finger marks on the walls in the garage and utility room. They took more than five months to return to address the problems, which just this month, 10 months later, were resolved. Fortunately, I did not pay the entire bill, but retained about 7%, which I now am about to pay.
Response from Carey & Walsh inc.

"[Member name removed], I am sorry you were not satisfied with your experience. I do have to note that we returned to your home shortly after the installation to seal the air leaks which were also on your existing duct work. We made 3 visits in total to repair the air leaks to your satisfaction. The men did scratch the door and I apologize that it was not brought to your attention. I had a man there for almost an entire day sanding and to re-polyurethane the door. Unfortunately you felt the scratch was still unacceptable and you requested the door be replaced. It did take a long time for us to get the door and polyurethane it and install it and for that I apologize again. Now that all the loose ends are tied up I hope you are happy with the performance of the system and I hope you would consider using us again in the future."

I had a new A/C condenser put in last year and it wasn't working. I called Carey and Walsh for service. The technician explained that it needed Freon and it would not need more than 5 lbs. When he was finished (2 hours later) he gave me a bill for $751.xx. I was shocked as I put in the new system last summer. He charged me for 7 lbs (not the 5 he quoted) plus labor. I asked if there was something we could do with the bill and he gave me an emphatic NO! So I gave him a check for $751.xx and he left.

I felt like I was 'taken'. And, after 2 days, the air conditioner was not working again.

A few days later the owner of the company called to sell me other parts and I explained my dissatisfaction with the bill. I explained that the technician told me it would be no more than 5 lbx, and he charged for 7 lbs and 2 hrs of labor and that the system was still not working with 2 days of the repair. He agreed to lower it to $590.xx and sent the same technician back to see what went wrong.

The technician came back, he looked at the outside condenser, then went up into my apartment to the thermostat, told me to leave the thermostat blower to the ON position. The system was still not working. He gave me a bill to sign and said there was No Charge for this visit. I signed the bill with NO dollar amounts. A week later, I received a 'copy' of the bill that I signed with $128.xx written into the page. Still NO A/C.

After arguing my case with this company, I ended up paying them the $590.xx for no air conditioner. They did not fix my A/C first time and did not honor there warranty to fix it within 30 days.

I have to say I was VERY DISATISFIED as I had NO air conditioning and it cost me $590.xx. I had to hire another company to come and fix the system.

I'm sure they will likely send a response to this email saying that they were not a fault. I disagree. If I pay you that kind of money, I should have a working A/C. My loss ...$590.xx!

Call another company to service your Air Conditioner!

Half hour before the range of time provided was going to end we called the company to inquire about the technician. The person we talked to said that there was no record of our appointment. Further he did not apologize for their mistake of dropping the ball on our appointment nor did he offer a solution, Apparently the Company is absolutely okay with their clients taking their business elsewhere.

Prompt response for request for appointment for full AC install in older house.

Update 9/4/13: Received call from Tim in the beginning of August asking me to change my review on Angie's List even though he did not provide us with a quote for the work we received. I changed by grade to a and quot;Band quot; with the promise from Tim that we would receive the requested quote within the next day or so. No quote was ever received. Find another AC contractor to do the work. They don't seen too reliable.
