After two tech visits and a total of about 20 minutes looking at my unit (all visits combined), my issue was never fixed nor was it even diagnosed (but that is not really my issue). On none of the visits did the tech leave behind any kind of work order or receipt for parts and labor, so I could understand what my bill would be. I did finally receive an invoice and they charged me $183.23 for the thermostat and $89.95 for the labor of installation ($295.03 in total). 
I checked online for vendors of the same thermostat (oem product, same item number) and found a NY supplier that sold it for $88.95 vs. what Chemung Heating charged me ($183.23). That is when I realized Chemung Heating does not do any kind of part sourcing to try and get their customers the best price. They are either being outrageously charged by their suppliers or they are price gouging their customers. Either reason equals terrible customer satisfaction. I would have no problem if the pricing was close, but nearly a $100.00 difference is crazy and just shows how little effort is put into sourcing their parts. I sent the information I found back to the Chemung Heating payable person, with the pricing information along with my overall dissatisfaction with their service and practices. I received no discount and paid the full invoice. I did not expect anything different from them at this point.
I used to like Chemung Heating and used them many times prior to this last event. Ever since they starting sending out the 20+ kid to do repair calls on his own, the service and practices have gone down the toilet. I could see quality issues immediately. This was the last time I would spend my hard earned money on sub par service and terrible part pricing.
I did find another service provider. The tech spent a hour looking over my system and explaining what they were doing along the way. They found my actual issue (which had nothing to do with the Hot Water Heater Thermostat, and the old one was just fine). This service provider was honest and detailed in their analysis and made sure I was fully aware of the charges as they went along. At the end of the process, I spent a good amount of money but I fixed the issue. The nearly $600.00 I spent with Chemung Heating was a wash as none it helped me get to the bottom of my issue. This new provider charged reasonable rates on their labor and parts (yes, I checked) but the main difference was the amount of time they spend actually trying to determine the problem.
At the end of the day, my issue was fixed, I found a quality vendor for my heating needs, and I learned to check part prices before allowing any work to be done. 
I wish Chemung Heating luck........and hopefully they can turn things around, but they have lost me as a customer.

They exceeded my expectations. I woke up this morning to a broken furnace and a FREEZING cold house. I called a few places and left messages, and then I called Chemung Heating and Building. I called at about 8:00 a.m. and explained the situation. I had to work all day today out of town and could not reschedule my work. When I explained my constrained schedule, the woman said she could have someone at my house at 8:30 (yes, that's a half hour after my call) to take a look, give me an estimate, and fix the problem. Sure enough, the man showed up at about 8:35 and had my heat working by 9:10 with plenty of time for to get to work at 9:30. Once the problem was fixed, he stayed until my baseboards heated back up. He didn't demand payment on the spot, and said I would receive a bill for the $89.99 service fee plus the $16 part. I was beyond satisfied!

Tech showed up and attached test gauge. Pressured up then left. Came back the next day and did the same to the other apartment.

They arrived on time, worked very professionally, were very courteous and clean.  They were always informative regarding the repair and answered any questions that we had.   I would definitely use them again, and recommend them to others.

Did not have work done by them no customer device did not send estimates as promised or return phone calls

Did a good job in a timely fashion installing a large kitchen window.

He did a nice, neat and professional job.  An excellent service experience.  He also arrived right on time and has an outstanding work ethic.

It went very smoothly, the work was done in 6 hours as planned and they held to the estimate given to me by the owner's son. Chuck and John were very professional...applying drop cloths to the kitchen floor as not to get it dirty as they worked and they worked efficiently and quietly as well. No yelling back and forth to eachother! They did have to leave once to get supplies, but that was during the lunch hour so it was timed well. They made certain the new furnace worked well prior to leaving the house and showed me everything to make sure I understood the thermostat and furnace. They even took away the old furnace with them. They cleaned the basement floor very well. I was very happy with the service, as was my husband.

They were very professional, showed up on time and cleaned up every night before they left. They compleated the project on time.

We asked for a catalog and manufacturer material on the heater.  Never delivered, although representative promised to drop it off the next day.  when quote arrived it was unusually high so I called for a discussion and justificatioin.  I called 2X, never got a return call.  My neighbor used this firm to replace all windows in their home with good results.  Needless to say, I did not do business with them

My Wife and I both work during the day so we called 3 A/C people to come check out our central air unit and diagnose why it was blowing warm air. Of the 3 highly rated places we called only Chemung Heating & Bldg called us back. They set up an appointment to come at 8am when my daughter would be home. They were to diagnose the issue and call my wife with estimate to fix the problem. They arrived on time went right to work and did exactly as they agreed upon. I had just mowed the lawn the night before and they tracked some grass into the house. My daughter said they were very concerned about this and offered to clean it many times. My daughter who was about to start doing her chores told them it was OK and she would get it. She made a point to let me know that the workers had genuine concern for cleaning the grass clippings. They called my wife and told her the final cost... for the part and labor. The price was reasonable and we came home to a cool house. 
We are very happy with our experience with Chemung Heating and would recommend them to others as well as call them for future projects we have planned.

I provided engineering drawings with dimensions and sketsches of desired finished product.  I spent about and hour with the estimator, he told me he wanted to have some other individuals to come over and take a look at the work also.  I never heard back from them after he left.  I called several times and spoke with the secretary and she assured me they were working an estimate up and that someone will be in touch with me, well no one ever called me back. Don't know why I should have to beg someone for an estimate, guess they didn't want the work.

I WOULD highly recommend this company.
They were prompt, polite and affordable.
I received 3 estimates to get my bay window replaced. Chemung Heating & Building was the farthest away from me and still came in $500 cheaper than the local companies. During the installation they(4 of them) were very clean, polite and answered questions that I had quickly and respectfully. A day after the install I noticed an issue on the exterior (caulking issue) and called during my lunch break, they came out and fixed it immediately, within a hour of calling they were here fixing it, it is about a hour drive...Very satisfied customer

Receptionist was not very customer oriented, a bit sarcastic on the phone. Info explained to receptionist as to what i wanted done did not get relayed well to tech. Tech did not know what the service call was for when he arrived. Scheduling was punctual and tech was very punctual which was nice due to the fact i was taking time from work to meet him. Tech was pleasant, a bit gruff, but clean and presentable. Had to explain to him what call was for. Knowledge was ok, did find myself assisting with some procedures. Tech was not up to date on newer technology, (computerised controllers) some repair equipment was very dated. Appreciated punctuality but due to receptionist and minor lack in knowledge would not call back for another service appointment. Did provide service and due to the fact i was having difficulty getting a hold of an available tech was pleased to find someone. Not my first choice to call.

He was very prompt and came out. He got out on the roof and gave me the estimate. They were reliable. I haven't used him yet as I don't have the money but when I do I may.

I will give them an excellent rating.

It was a very positive experience. When they did the roofing project for me, I asked for proof of insurance and they gave it to me before they started.  When I used them for my heating unit, they were very customer friendly and worked with me on when I would be home for them to install it.
