R.J. Johnson Moving & Storage

The good: Nothing was broken (as of now). They were careful with my furniture. We did a walk through that I approved of. The bad: They were extremely slow. They took 9.5 hours to do the following: 1 couch, 1 crib, 3 dressers, queen bed, one night stand, 1 dining room table and hutch, 2 tvs (should have been 3 but will explain why), miscellaneous stuff from the shed that was brought to the front lawn by me, a treadmill that was already taken apart and a stepper that was 3 pieces to take apart and put together. A lot of the time they were bullshitting at the truck. They were literally at one point taking one couch cushion at a time. They took an hour and 15 minutes for lunch. They claimed driving time was the reason for the delay (mean while it takes 10 minutes to and from the houses that the job was. If you want to say 20 minutes due to the truck load ok to get to the taco bell they claimed to go to. So they took off a “half hour” instead of an hour and 15 minutes they took. They did not take down my outdoor tv even though I told them and it was agreed to do so. They found a wasp nest where the tv was located. 2 of them have allergies. I understand that part. But why not say if you take the nest down we will take the tv? They just said no we’re not going to take it we have allergies. It took an hour for me and 2 other people to take it down. It was high to a point where you need a ladder. So when the bill came I calculated 7.5 working plus 1 hour travel time 8.5 hours. They charged me 9.5 and said they took half hour off for lunch. They left my house at 12:15 and showed up to the new house at 1:30. What am I missing here? So when I questioned the young man he said “do we have a problem” and it escalated from there. The owner not only dismissed my claims he threatened to take me to court over $195. They spent 45 minutes arguing with me and at one point cursing at me as well. He also slammed his hand on my grill where his clipboard was. I reluctantly paid the full amount even though all I had asked was to shave one hour off the bill making the bill 1785. I don’t recommend anyone use this company they did not do the right thing by this customer.

Price- I shop around. I found his price more than fair compared to the other companies that gave me estimates.
Pack up - Smooth as could be. Arrived when they said they would. The entire crew operated like a well oiled machine. You can tell they have been doing this a long time. Everything was well protected by moving blankets and paper. They moved quick.
Overall- I am very particular about who I have in my house and I was comfortable with these guys. I wasn't sure how they were going to move my massive jukebox and a safe. In the blink of an eye it was up on the truck. I couldn't believe it. These guys were professionals. Start to finish was a fantastic experience. The price was great and having the owner on site was very reassuring. He kept things moving and was on top of everything. He even gave me boxes to hang my suits so they would not be folded up. This was a moving company not some group of guys with a truck. I believe you get what you pay for and these guys were handling everything I owned. I would totally use them again.
