"At L.I.S. Custom Designs, Inc. we supply well over one thousand kitchens in the course of a year, in addition to bathrooms, libraries, closets, etc. We have been in business for over 80 years and we certainly understand the stress any home renovation process can cause people even under the best circumstances. Although we try our best to avoid any delays, occasionally cabinetry will come in later than estimated. The kitchen that was specified in the above complaint was not an uncomplicated kitchen as was stated. The design process took about two months, with four meetings, five revisions (some with multiple options) and many email communications. We are pleased that the [member name removed] were happy with our design services and we are sorry that we did not make it clear that this kind of attention to detail continues after the design is signed off on, and at times this does extend the time it takes for the cabinetry to arrive. There is much communication between the manufacturer and ourselves that goes on to insure that all the construction documents at the factory are correct. After the order was placed, the type of sink initially specified was changed from a farm sink to an undermount sink which required a change in the cabinetry, and there were some last minute back and forth discussions of whether the homeowner wanted glass doors with finished interiors or not. This kitchen had a wall oven cabinet that had to be custom sized in width, depth and cutout size, a custom sized base cabinet to incorporate a specific cooktop, wainscot panels on the exposed sides of cabinetry as well as the back of an island, different doors with different finishes on the island and kitchen, different drawer front profiles, and many custom inserts. There certainly are many more complicated kitchens we have designed with more customizations and one of a kind manufactured pieces than this particular kitchen but there are also much simpler kitchens that can be produced by manufacturers who specialize in quick delivery. The [member name removed]'s kitchen was not one of those. The manufacturer that is creating their kitchen is known for quality custom construction, beautiful finishes and attention to detail. Unfortunately the [member name removed] wanted a definitive delivery date during this process and until the manufacturer provided us with the date, they could not get the answer they wanted. We did inform them that when we received the date we would let them know, and that there is generally a four to five week time frame from that moment until the cabinetry is delivered. We are confident that the cabinetry will arrive when promised now that it is in production, and we will continue to insure that it not only arrives on time, but will be delivered to their home on our own trucks and handled like the fine furniture that it is. We work with other manufacturers that take much longer to produce their cabinetry, and we have many satisfied clients who were aware of the time these companies require to produce high quality custom made cabinetry with custom finishes, yet chose to go forward utilizing our design services to help them achieve their visions. There are always options to get cabinetry for less money or in a shorter time frame, but we try to cater to the needs of our clients to provide them with the best overall fit on a particular project. We hope that ultimately the [member name removed]’s will be happy with their kitchen that was designed with their specific needs in mind and that they will be impressed with the workmanship provided by the custom cabinet manufacturer that is producing their cabinetry."
