GRAND CONSTRUCTION

They were quick and inexpensive.

I live on the first floor in a one-bedroom co-op in Lynbrook. Grand Construction installed a drop down ceiling with acoustical tiles in my living room and bedroom that comprised roughly 450 square feet. The grid holding the tiles was dropped down about 7" from the original ceiling. Along with the acoustical tiles, Sam installed eight high-hats (recessed lighting) in the living room, four in the bedroom, and one more in the small hall connecting the two rooms. In addition, he filled the 7" cavity with fiberglass insulation so as to cut down the noise from above. In total, the job required five days of work. Originally, I was quoted two days however Sam was trustworthy enough to leave the keys and allow him to work while I was away. Each day I returned home, the place was as clean as can be with this going on and nothing was missing or broken. When the job was done, I was absolutely stunned how beautiful the job went. The ceiling is a literal work of art. The lines and proportions are perfect and despite the loss of height it actually makes the rooms look bigger. The texture of the tiles gives it a homier appearance plus the acoustics are now fantastic. As for the soundproofing, the ceiling has virtually eliminated the "higher pitched" sounds like talking and TV. I can still hear my neighbor's footsteps however they are now muffled considerably to about 50% of their original sound. I believe Sam has soundproofed my place about as much as humanly possible without compromising the structure of the building. It may have cost a little more than expected and taken a little longer however I have absolutely no regrets in hiring Grand Construction. The results were well worth it and I would recommend them for any job. In fact, I'm keeping them handy should I do any other work in my place.
