Jeff did a great job, relatively quickly, and cleaned up after himself.

He did not complete the job and cost me time, money and stress. He was unresponsive and arrogant. His prices were inflated and I wish I never hired him.

every few years I need to have the fence I share with neighbors stained. Jeff did a great job and got it all done including the gates in one day. He arrived on time, was always professional.

Jeff bought all the materials as well as doing the labor. He showed up on time, worked neatly and efficiently, and built a good product. We would not have been able to get ready-made doors to replace the ones that were damaged.
Jeff has done a lot of work for us, all kinds of handyman things. He's especially good at basic carpentry. He's made a long wooden shelf to match one for our great room and built-in book shelves and a cabinet for the kitchen, replaced rotten hand rails to the deck, and done interior painting. He'll do small jobs, too, like helping to move a swing set. His prices are very reasonable, and we would highly recommend him for any job that can be done by one man alone.

Noticed wall cabinet in main bathroom started to come loose. Called Jeff, he came over same day. He reattached it and added additional screws (staples had come loose) to ensure it would remain attached. He was very professional and since I work from home was able to keep noise down so I had no issues attending conference calls. Definitely recommend Jeff if anyone needs a general handyman.

He was great. Professional, on time, within budget. I can't say enough nice things about Jeff and his work. I plan on using him for any odd jobs I have around the house.

At first he seemed to be doing fine. I was a bit apprehensive when he brought a woman with him to do work. She had never painted before and he had her painting some walls in my home. Meanwhile he was in my basement supposedly sanding and painting my kitchen cabinets. I asked if he intended to spray paint those cabinets in my finished basement. I thought outside would be a better option. He exclaimed he was only brush painting the cabinets. I was not thrilled with that option. He assured me the cabinets would be fine.
Then he began doing tile work. He mentioned he borrowed the tools from his brother. He mentioned he used to sub out the tile work. When he finished I was horrified. Apparently he did not bother with spacers because the grout between the tiles was uneven, very thick in some places and not so in others. I have never seen any tile work done that poorly. In the midst of the tile work, I telephoned him and asked if he would not mind disconnecting my dishwasher. I explained I had a hardwood floor worker coming the next day to begin that work. This angered Jeff so much. When I came home he had broken the dishwasher and in a very hostile way said ....thanks for giving away MY JOB. Apparently he thought I was intending to have him refinish my hardwood floors. I grew quite frightened of him and could not wait for him to leave my home. Then he demanded I pay him an extra $35 to dispose of my broken dishwasher!
It is my fear that kept me from writing this review years sooner.

Fine. There was an issue with payment. My first check seemed to get lost so I had to write a second check. He was prompt but it seemed like a lot of money for a simply job.

If I were to tell about him to friends and family members, I would say that he did what he said he was going to do and he cleaned up afterwards. He came when he said he would come, and he charged what he said he would charge. I was hoping the price would have been a little less, but it was fair. He did everything with very good quality. He didn't promise to come back for three days after his initial inspection and that is when he came back, but I was just hoping that he could have got it done sooner. He didn't promise to do any faster. He came when he said, so I can't really fault him on that. It was just my preference. He knew what he was doing. There was a kind of a hole in the ceiling and the drywall, and he had the ceiling painted in and made it look good as if it had never been there. I was very pleased with that.

.Initially he seemed to be a nice guy doing a good job. On close inspection - everything was forced, rigged and done incorrectly.
Please note that his price was reasonable at first - but not really because it will ALL have to be redone.

He called me back promptly, showed up when he said he would, and did an amazing job; it turned out much better than I had expected. Highly recommended. Mr. Lutes is a true professional.

I thought I got my money's worth. He did a great job and he was dependable. He was a nice guy and was fairly responsive. He is a general handyman so he was able to do a variety of things. I didn't compare prices but I was satisfied with the price. I would definitely use him again.

My experience with Jeff was mixed. He was punctual, worked very hard, and tried to do an exceptional job. I found that he tends to under estimates the time required and to over estimates his ability to complete certain tasks. So long as ajob gets done, underestimating the time required is not a big deal. Taking on a job for which he doesn't have the right tools or requisite skill is a real issue that cannot possibly have a good outcome.
The first job Jeff did for me was to replace three post lights along my driveway. Jeff used the existing holes for the post lights. I don't know if the original holes weren't aligned or if the first two posts were not centered in the existing holes. Jeff located the final post about 12and quot; off a straight line drawn from the first two posts. It was late, and he was really pushing to get the last post in and set in concrete. I wound up digging out the last hole so that all three posts lined up. He came back and finished up the next day. Despite having to dig out the last hole myself, I'd give him an A on this job.
Jeff significantly underestimated the time required to install the low voltage wiring. He tried to drill holes down the center of 4x4 deck posts. His drill bit wasn't long enough to go completely through the post. The bit was also flexible, so it was hard to drill a straight hole. The drill bit came out the side of several posts, and he was not able to drill up from the bottom of any of the posts to create a hole from top to bottom. He started to patch the holes, but did not finish the repair job. I would have been happy with wires going down the back of the posts, but he was confident that he could drill through the center of the posts. He spent a lot of time trying to make these holes, but in the end he gave up. He wanted to do a great job but did not have the tools or skills to succeed. The lights do work and look good with the exception of the unfinished patches on the 4x4 posts. I'd give him a B on this job because he did not finish repairing the posts where the drill bit broke through.
The third job involved replacing 4 pieces of cedar siding and batan boards and two feet of rotten barn floor. Jeff did a great job. The workmanship was good, and he finished on time. This job clearly rates an A.
The final job was to replace a 16' wide garage door on a barn. Jeff assured me that he had installed garage doors before. Jeff proposed using a door from Home Depot. I found an alternative Amarr door that used a slightly heavier gauge steel, was available with flat as opposed to raised panels, and was available in brown. I went over the order with Jeff before I placed it. When the door arrived, Jeff came back to install it. He put the door together without looking at what had shipped. After he had finished, he discovered that he had not used the simple set torsion spring winders. He took the door apart and installed the spring winders, but he could not get them to work. He took the door apart again and removed the spring winders. At that point he said he had spent enough time on the door and declared that he was done. He had not installed the lock and one of the pieces of trim. The door was not centered in the opening. As a result of not being centered the seal on one side is not weather tight and the white bands on the door that indicate the the part of the door that should be covered by the seal are visible. Jeff got mad and left when I told him that he had not finished the job he had agreed to do. He did not even bother to turn off the barn lights or close the loft door so that the contents of the barn would not get wet. I had paid him the previous day because he said he would be finished before I returned home. He was quick to cash the check, but he has made no effort to come back to finish the trim or install the lock. I give Jeff an F on this job.
I had discussed another 2 weeks of work with Jeff before the garage door install. The work was his if he wanted it until he walked off of the garage door install. I still would have used him on other jobs if he didn't install the garage door. I will never use anyone again who walks off a job.

He came when he said he would and did what he promised. His work was quite good and he cleaned up afterwards. He needed to cut a hole in the downstairs ceiling to gain access to the pipe and he repaired the ceiling hole very well.

The only nice thing I could say is that he was on time. If I wasn't here, I'm not sure what would've happened with the concrete. If you don't have a vibrator to set the stone, that isn't good. This guy at least had a vibrator, and they did set the stone when they poured. Other than that, there were some things that I didn't like.

Jeff called back prompty, came over the next day and gave me an estimate on sanding/priming/painting my exterior window and door trim. He gave me a date when he would start, called on the day he was coming and worked 2 full, long days sanding and scraping, priming and painting windows and doors on ground level and the windows at second floor level. He worked in a professional manner and I found him to be a reliable worker. He's a very nice guy and I would hire him again.

Jeff sized up each job and proceeded methodically to complete each of them successfully. The squeaky faucets had defied a plumber and another handyman but Jeff knew how to remedy the problem. I was impressed with the assortment of professional -level tools Jeff had with him.
