We started using South Shore Swimming Pool & Spa Service inc last season and Phil and his team is extremely knowledgeable. Phil was very accessible and when the weather delayed our opening, he stayed until the sun set to ensure a smooth opening. He followed up almost daily to make sure that everything was in order and made several return trips to check that his technician installed the salt system correctly and that the pool was cleared. His knowledge of the chemistry involved is also quite impressive.

Phil came to assess the damage done to my liner from a previous storm, he went over several options with me on new liners and explained thoroughly the process to fit it in (as I have no idea what I'm doing!) the prices compared to other companies I've contacted were significantly lower as well! Phil came to my house promptly and even offered to set up a weekly pool cleaning schedule with me for maintenance! Will definitely be recommending his services to my friends!

Phil took over opening our neglected pool after another company left us hanging. This pool opening was clearly challenging since our in ground pool had been closed for 5 years. Phil came in an assed the situation, he gave us a realistic estimate of the work. He came back every couple of day to adjust the water chemistry until we started seeing the pool clear up. Then he vacuumed debris out of the pool for roughly 3 hours. He did not rush the process and came on three separate occasions to allow things to settle. He asked for a fair price and offered plenty of free advice and tips. He is knowledgable, and professional much unlike the first person we hired. I would totally recommend him.

Phil Tafe is a top notch pool repairman. He is skilled, fair, approachable, friendly and reliable. My pool technicians in the past were only concerned with opening and closing the pool, but Phil spots problems before they become overwhelming and is able to fix them in a timely and professional manner. I've been using him for two years now and I hope to keep him for many more in the future.

This is our second season with South Shore Pool and Spa. The service has been nothing short of perfect. Phil is completely professional. He uncovered issues that two other companies failed to point out that would have cost us thousands if left unattended. My wife and I just moved into a new home and we have never owned a pool before so we contacted a company that the previous owner used for their hot tub. Big mistake. They opened up the pool and told us we were good to go in about 3-4 days once the algacide and chemicals kicked in. Fast forward 10 days and the pool still looked terrible. So we called Phil and South Shore SPASS. He quickly assessed the situation and was able to get our pool up and running a few weeks later. It would have been sooner but we needed replacement parts for the filter and due to COVID, the lead time to get them was longer than usual. He also converted our pool salt and we are glad he did. Overall, Phil and his team were easy to work with and we will be using them going forward.

Hired them to hook up water pipes and advise on gas connection for pool heater. They told me what to purchase for gas pipes, which I bought and installed. They installed water pipes which seems to be working properly. First time we used heater, it started spewing black smoke and we shut it down. Got South Shore to come back a week later and was told the gas pipes were too small and left. Then why did they tell me to buy what I did if it was too small? I got the feeling that they only showed up this time to appease me as they did nothing to help me and my smoking heater. Would never hire them again.

"Customer purchased and installed the gas line himself. It is not our fault that the customer purchased and installed the wrong size gas line as he should have contacted a gas company to find out what size he needed. He was told that he purchased and installed the wrong size gas line when we originally did the plumbing the first time. Customer then contacted us when the heater started smoking, while knowing the problem and what was causing the problem. We advised the customer on how to fix the problem."

Rude and unprofessional. Had to return to job several times because ladder was placed in pool the wrong way and also had to secure connecting hoses which were leaking. Annoyed at me saying my job was " such a problem that things usually always go smoothly." Bad attitude!!!!! WILL NEVER RECOMMEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Customer originally requested an opening. Customer did not state that their pump was broken. We had to get the correct parts. Every time we went back, a new part was needing to be replaced. Customer upset that pool was not done perfectly immediately, they did not understand that their pool needed repairs. We tried to help the customer as best as we could but they were too impatient to work with us any further. Openings usually go smoothly with the understanding that there are no repairs needing to be done. Any repairs are an additional cost. Customer did not seem to comprehend that."

I struggled all summer with my pool constantly throwing chemicals back washing etc. just couldn’t get it right. I finally reached out to a professional which I am skeptical about. I dealt with the owner Phil. He was extremely professional and did not try to sell me anything I didn’t need. Responded quickly. And did an awesome job. I would highly recommend. Phil said he would get my pool clear and he did. He said he would have to make a few visits to put chemicals and clean the filter. Phil let me know everytime he would be at my house. He got my green pool clean and clear again. Great job Phil thank you
