"The Client wanted multiple prepared and detailed invoices from our company to assist him in an real estate transaction. We obliged him. The client was on a budget and wanted us to meet his financial limit along with an extremely aggressive start date. We obliged all these requests and began the process of starting his job. The day before we planned on starting the work the client had told us he would like to cancel the job and requested a full deposit refund of $1,500. We explained to him that time and planning went into his job, and we now had acquired an empty gap in our work rotation. With his cancelation, workers will still need to be paid now with a gap in our schedule, that's why we collect a deposit to cover these costs among other resources we applied to obtaining the job. In good faith the store front shop manger offered a partial $300 deposit credit. If he decides to do the job in the future we could reapply it back. The client said he was going away and will touchbase when he returns. We didn't hear back, until Angie's list reached out to us just now. A deposit is to make a financial commitment so all resources being applied to that specific task are secured. We never want an unhappy customer or any person to feel like the experience was sub-par in dealing with our company. We also cannot take substantial loses. We felt a credit of $300 was completely fair. If not we are opened to listening and communicating on why we should take more of a loss. "
