Jon personally came to address these issues even though it’s close to 2 years after his company performed the work. He took care of he issues for no additional charge. Very happy with his service and would highly recommend to anyone in need of home insulation, energy efficiency etc.

The garage they did a fine job. The bedroom wing not only did they not do anything to help the situation, but (a) took $4000 of my money and then (b) forced my wife to pay a $800 upcharge for walk the sales person, chris mari, said would be free. This company, Healthy Home, is duplicitous and untrustworthy. They have proven the bad reputation of insulation companies: that they take money for no actual value delivered. Beware and stay away.
Response from Healthy Home Energy & Consulting Inc

"We are very sorry that the client is not satisfied with the results of the efficiency improvements to the bedroom area in their home. It is paramount for us to provide exceptional customer service and the highest quality work to our clients. There are a variety of reasons that the master bedroom of this home has comfort issues and drafts. We were able to identify these issues; however, we were only able to fix some of them as the client chose to implement a reduced scope of work."

The overall service was great from start to finish. We met with Chris for the initial energy audit, he was very cordial and patient. He was able to walk us through the problem areas with very knowledgeable explanations and answers to all of our questions. He was also very respectful of our home, wearing booties that covered his shoes when walking around the inside of the house (a practice all of the Healthy Home techs also took part in). The results of the audit were presented as a power point presentation which was thorough, clear and easy to follow. We were also given a full report print-out after the presentation. Once we decided to start the project, they were quick to respond and schedule a start date. The technicians (Elvis, Mitch, Rich, Hayden) that worked on the house were also very patient and extremely accommodating. They took great care to leave their work areas completely clean, sometimes cleaner than they found it! Any problems were addressed/resolved quickly, any questions were answered with patience. They also were very aware that there was a baby in the house (the last two days of the project) and were extremely quiet when working around the baby. We noticed an improvement as soon as the work was completed. I highly recommend Healthy Home Energy & Consulting.

The only difficulty I had was the lack of a clear understanding of the ways this could be paid for. More an administrative thing than the actual work.

The work went well Jon's team was very professional. We had our entire house insulated in addition to duct sealing along with other various energy improvements. We noticed the difference almost immediately and are very happy with the results. Jon and his team provided us with certificates showing the measured results in energy improvements. We would highly recommend Healthy Home and Energy if you want quality work done with prudence and care.

What a difference. The home retains its temperature much better than before, and we found ourselves nice and toasty on those cold winter nights. The crew (Hayden, Elvis, Packie) did an exceptional job. They were clean (always wore shoe coverings when in and out of the house), cleaned up after themselves impeccably, and they were also good for a few laughs to boot. They took their time, were thorough and informative. I would highly recommend Healthy Home to anyone who is looking to increase their home's energy efficiency and standards of comfort. A+!

Healthy Home Energy & Consulting of Bedford Hills, NY performed an energy audit of our home and provided a very thorough report including a booklet with measurements of heat loss and areas of concern. The report also included specific remedies, broken down by price into three projects. We were able to choose 1, 2 or all 3 projects.

The project manager patiently explained all the details and answered many questions we posed. A New York State rebate program was available and HH made the application process very simple. We completed some paperwork and they submitted it to NYS. Shortly after the work was completed we received our NYS rebate within the time frame that HH indicated.

Healthy Home's employees were consistently polite and professional. The quality of work was also excellent, and was completed within the estimated time frame.

The crew cleaned up at the end of each day and on the final day of work everything in and around our home was back in order.

I recommend Healthy Home Energy & Consulting without reservation.

All work was done in a timely and professional manner. Chris, Peter, and Alexandra do an excellent job in assessing your needs, communicating options, and work to obtain all incentives and financing available for energy efficient improvements. I have noticed an immediate difference in the comfort level of my home built in 1926. I strongly recommend working with Healthy Home.

From the beginning to the end, the Healthy Home staff members were nothing but respectful, responsive and capable. Because this program was new to us, we had many questions and concerns. Each question was addressed to our complete satisfaction. We never felt rushed or dismissed as each staff member gave us their full attention...from the office staff to the installers to the owner. This is the way all businesses should treat their customers. Even while the work was being done, any small concern that we had was addressed immediately and to our satisfaction. The office staff were courteous and helpful and competent. The installers were thorough, respectful, cheerful and competent....and patient with our many questions. The owner of the company was obviously serious about customer relations and communicated in a timely fashion. His dedication to the business was to be admired...something we don't see much of lately. The project was performed on schedule and as promised. We are just getting into the colder weather and have noticed a huge difference in how this condo retains heat. The cold drafts have been greatly minimized. It was difficult to accept the suggestion that the perimeter sealing and new insulation would be more effective than replacing the doors and windows (and more cost effective). After educating ourselves about the Healthy Home approach, it all began to make perfect sense. If your floors, walls and ceilings are not properly zipped up, the conditioned air inside will not stay inside.....it will simply ride the draft right out of your home!! Even the most expensive doors and windows will do nothing to prevent the other escape routes. We highly recommend Healthy Home whether you are trying to select a contractor, or simply want to get more information on how to make your home a better place to be. Give them a call, what have you got to lose! We are happy that we did. Thank you Healthy Home. Al and Wendy N.

Peter did the energy audit on our home and as a result , a lot of questions were answered as to why we could not regulate the temperature in the whole house. Come to find out we had very little if any insulation in our home which usually resulted in high energy costs in both the summer and the winter. The whole process was seamless from beginning to end . This summer, instead of it boiling and the air conditioner having to constantly run , we were able to get away with using the ceiling fans. Worth every penny.

Not so good. Don't get me wrong. This company presents itself very professionally with a nicely bound post-energy audit report. But that's where things start to go sideways. This is not a review of the quality of services delivered but rather a public service announcement against predatory pricing practices that prey on the financially unsophisticated. I'm sure their customers are satisfied with the job they eventually do but their customers are extremely overpaying for their services. This company preys on people not asking enough questions, not understanding the time value of money and not understanding dynamics of the energy audit. The company uses the energy audit they've just run to then calculate potential savings from the energy solutions they're proposing. Seems reasonable, right? Accept, it presents a perverse incentive not to run the most accurate energy audit. You see, their pricing isn't based on the cost of labor and materials plus a margin but rather amortizing the “savings” over 15 years by taking advantage of cheap money from a government loan program. You might say "well it's cheap money so why wouldn't a homeowner take advantage it?" Let me explain why not. I wasn't present when the energy audit was conducted but when their representative, Jon, came back to provide the results I had some questions. He said the house had the equivalent of 3 sq ft hole work of excess airflow. I had noticed that right after the audit was done the storm windows weren't closed. I asked their representative if they should have been during the test. He said yes. When I asked why he didn't ensure they were, he had no good answer and stumbled to find one. In their report, they also have a picture of the attic exhaust fan vent as an example of air major leakage. Well, no duh. That's the purpose of an exhaust fan. The vent is 1.5 sq ft so I know where at least a quarter of their 3 sq ft hole is coming from. I suspect the windows were another major source. I didn't doubt that house needed to be tighten up but real question is what were the right solutions and what should they cost. They three progressively expensive solutions: Solution #1 - perimeter air sealing which mean chaulking baseboards and other small opens like around outlet ($4,200) and redoing the attic insulation in foam ($12,000). They itemized each step (see pictures), associated MMBtu savings, $ savings, expected payback period, savings per year, etc. If you're keeping track, that's a $16,000 job. Remember a major source of leakage is the attic fan. What if I just permanently close it with a $50 solution? But let me return to the pricing. They focus you just like a used-car salesman on the monthly cash flow. Here's they're math. Based on the savings from the audit they conducted, the estimated they've provided and the 'cheap loan' from the government, they estimate that my $16,000 investment will save me $20.64 a month for the next fifteen years. That's my projected monthly savings of $136.36 minus my monthly loan payment of $115.72 ($16,000 loan, 3.49%, 15 yr term). After 15 years, that job will cost $16,000 in principle plus $4,600 in interest or over $20,000. And, there's no guarantee you're actually receiving the projected savings. In fact, by pricing this way, Healthy Home ensures they benefit from your potential ‘savings’ first. In essence, Healthy Home is using the 'car salesman' technique to get you to focus on the monthly payment and not the total inflated price. How do I know this? Because when I priced air sealing from other guys, it cost $1,500. If I wanted to do it myself, the cost of silicone would be a tiny fraction of that. Solution #2 – perimeter sealing ($4,200), attic insulation ($12,000) and exterior wall insulation ($12,800) for a total of $29,000. This is where Jon’s visit went bad for him. I had gotten two other estimates for wall insulation. You see, my house is from 1900 and had no insulation in the walls so I knew without needing an energy audit that that was a key issue. I asked Jon if he thought it was the place I would save the most and he said yes. It’s also what the report said. But then when I asked him why his estimate was so much higher than the $4,500 and $6,000 estimates I had received, he said they don’t talk about their pricing. Hmmmmn? Couldn’t be transparent about their pricing? The others were a third to half his price. By the way, I went with the contractor who bid $6,000 and they did a great job. If I had gone with Healthy Home for the exterior wall insulation, over 15 years it would have cost me $16,459 in principle and interest or nearly 3 times as much for the same job. In 15 years, does anyone believe I would have saved $29,000 to break even on the cost of their Solution #2? Solution # - erimeter sealing ($4,200), attic insulation ($12,000) and exterior wall insulation ($12,800) and heating improvement aka a new boiler ($9,875) for a total of $38,000. You know where I’m going so I’m not even going to do the math for you. If you look at the next 3 pages of reviews, you’ll find prices like the following: $7,000 $25,000 $20,000 $12,000 $18,000 $20,000 $15,500 $32,000 $18,000 $15,000 $24,000 $10,000 $6,000 $14,000 I’m glad these people are happy with their work because they’ll be paying for it for a long time. Ignorance can be bliss. Now, go comparison shop other highly rated contractors in this field and ask why they’re prices aren’t as high. You’ll be told that Healthy Home certifications are what drive their quality and their pricing. That could be true but that doesn’t make the other guys any less qualified. How much of a premium are you prepared to pay? Don’t let a lack a curiosity and a fear of asking tough questions cost you thousands of dollars more than you should be paying.

I'm saving money and getting to keep my savings. If I had gone with Healthy Home for the exterior wall insulation, over 15 years it would have cost me $16,459 in principle and interest or nearly 3 times as much for the same job. Healthy Home would have been paid first and I'd start truly saving in year 15 after the loan was paid off. If you don't have the money, get a home equity loan. Rates are ~3%. I had an exceptional experience with Healthy Homes. Chris Mari came to give a free quote and was very informative and to the point - advising me exactly what needed to be done and how urgent it was. This was quite refreshing, considering some of the crazy quotes I received and misinformation I was given by others.

Once agreed and the appointment was set, Chris and his crew arrived right on time and completed the project, exactly in the time frame he advised. I met the crew and they were all extremely nice and the work was exceptional, surpassing my expectations. The price was competitive when compared to the others and I would certainly recommend Healthy Homes to others.

They did a thorough job and solved all the issues that I have.
