The pruning of the trees was fine however there was something that I observed that was troubling. While pruning one of the trees a large branch came down and damaged one of the posts on my deck. I observed this from inside the house. He tried putting the post back in place hoping I wouldn't notice anything. I didn't say anything to him because I wanted to see if he would admit to what happened. He never did. After he left I touched the post lightly and it fell apart again. I think he should have come clean and admitted what happened and, if he was a real professional, offer to take even $20 or $25 off the fee. That would have been fine with me. I don't want to make a big deal of this because there was only slight damage. What bothered me the most is that he didn't tell me what happened and tried to cover it up. I don't want to do business with people like this.

Jim was very responsive. Came ASAP, explained the problems he saw relating to a large downed and dead tree branch, as well as other tree debris and two very dangerous branches which needed careful attention. Jim explained he had other obligations coming up and the truck would likely not be available after a few days.
At first we were concerned about the cost, but after consideration realized it would be a big job and the price was warranted. We called Jim right back, and he was able to return later with two helpers and a much needed truck. This all happened on a Sunday afternoon. All very professional, courteous and clean.
Jim also gave us advice as to branches still to be brought down. He even called back later to remind us what we need to do.
Thanks, Jim!

I was more than satisfied. I am going to have him back in the late spring. He topped most of the trees that had to come down. He is going to come back and finish the roots and whatever in the spring. He was wonderful. My idea was to get rid of all the rose of Sharon and to get rid of all the twigs. He leveled everything and the garden looks twice as big when he got all these saplings taken out. He cut them down to the ground almost. So I have asked him to come back in the spring when the ground is soft to dig up the roots. They were prompt and courteous. They had all the equipment. They looked like an establishment. I was very pleased with their professionalism. They are thorough and they are knowledgeable. They really did a fantastic job. Even my neighbor was surprised at the difference after their work. I recommended them to one of my neighbors. Everything was fair. They did a big job and did it so well that they earned the price that they asked for. At this point I was not interested in saving money but I was interested in cleaning up all the rose of Sharon.

Jim was hired to prune pine trees and berry trees on the perimeter of our condo grounds, as well as various trees throughout our inner walkways. Our trees are very tall and some were storm damaged and needed to be removed completely. He was very cautious about cars, personal property, etc. being removed from his work space and staked out the areas where he was working so people would not get close. He used the mulch from the trees to provide ground cover to control weeds and soil runoff. He completed the work as scheduled and the grounds looked beautiful and well maintained after completion. Many of our homeowners expressed their satisfaction with the work. I developed a good relationship with Jim over at least 13 years of contracting his services. I've compared pricing with other vendors and Jim is still the most reasonable. I will be calling him again to prune some huge mulberry trees which are dropping berries on cars in our parking lot -- most likely in October, 2011. He also does snow removal but I cannot comment on that since we are using a vendor we have had for almost 20 years.
