General Remodeling
The contractor started the work sooner than we expected, so we naively thought that it would be completed sooner. Work on this multi-project job started in June and was not completed until October. This contractor likes to get jobs, but then has so many in the hopper at one time that they cannot be worked on in a timely manner. Nothing was ever finished completely before starting a new project. So for an entire summer and into the fall our house was in various stages of construction.
More aggravating was this contractor's lack of professionalism in returning phone calls, not showing up when promised, and lack of information regarding pricing for materials. We were sent to the big box stores to "pick out" our sinks, toilets, etc required for the work. We were never given a price range for these items - for example, it would have been helpful to know that we had a $150 limit for a toilet, a $200 limit for a vanity, etc. So the items that we did special order (and paid for) should have been comp'd at a reasonable amount. Further, one of the projects was a window replacement. This contractor lied to us about the order status of a window (the company was said to have broken it without re-ordering a replacement), then they claimed to have contacted a company that originated our windows (they were not contacted). They accidentally broke our new bathroom vent fan/light in the demo of the bathroom and instead of owning up to the mistake, they said that the wiring was bad so it had to come out. The stain & polyurethane was never completed so we had to have our painter do it for us.
These and so many other things were our experience. While it is nice to have the work finished and a nicer surrounding, there are so many mistakes and so much was left undone, that it has soured us to ever going down this road again.

Plumbing
He installed the piping and fixtures crooked. He was suppose to fix a toilet but didn't fix it. He sent somebody out to fix his work that had no plumbing experience. We even tipped him initially because we thought he did a good job, but we were certainly wrong!
