What really blew me away with Hills was their commitment to my satisfaction. Through no fault of their own there was a minor issue that was more of an annoyance to me than it was an operational issue. They went above and beyond what most companies would do to make sure they addressed that annoyance. Even though they could have said the system was operating correctly and left it at that, they came back as many times as needed to address the issue. Now the system is running perfectly and that annoyance is gone.
If I ever need HVAC services again Hills will be the only company I call and I will absolutely recommend them to anyone that might be looking for HVAC work.
Give them a call, you won't be sorry.
We called two vendors - Hill's and another vendor who had replaced a neighbor's unit two years ago. The other vendor came out first and gave us a somewhat generic quote based on replacing what we had except going with a 92% furnace and using our old thermostat.
The Hill's estimator was much more detailed than the other vendor's. He measured the interface with the duct work and determined what sheet metal work would be necessary to install a external filter assembly so we didn't have to open the furnace cabinet to change the filter. He also determined that (conrary to what the first vendor said) our old thermostat would not work with a new two-stage firnace, and would have to be replaced. [I verified this on the thermostat website - the old thermostat would work, but would not be able to control the two-stage high efficiency mode.]
The Hill's quote was higher, but the furnace was better (95% efficiency) and our confidence factor was much higher. They offered a discount for paying with cash or check, and a further discount for buying both the furnace and the a/c. In addition, only the Hill's man mentioned the rebate available from our power company for installing a high-efficiency furnace.
I called Hill's and told them it was a go. After bringing in the signed contract (no deposit required), they scheduled the installation for a two day period about two weeks out. Because the weather was extremely hot (100 degree) they offered to send out a serviceman (for free) to see if he could get the a/c working on a temporary basis. He came out that afternoon and found a defective time delay relay in the controller and by-passed it. We were cool again.
The day of the installation arrived, and so did the Hill's installation crew. The two men had the basic system installed and the a/c working by the end of the first day, and used the entire second day (with a third man in the afternoon) running the PVC vent for the furnace, reinstalling my existing humidifier, and installing the drainage for the a/c and the humidifier. After the system was completely installed they ran a thorough system checkout, recording temperatures, pressures, current draw, etc. in a log book.
The Hill's employees were neat, courteous, knowledgeable, and seemed happy in their work. One had over thirty years with Hill's.
