Just Construction

One year after Sandy and my sister, Missy, and I were ready to rebuild our home. My sister was responsible for selecting a contractor, but I needed to give final approval. In the last year, my sister had scheduled appointments with a score of contractors. Very few ever bothered to respond with an estimate or even at all. Matt, with Just Construction, was one of many contractors to come to our home. However, he was one of less than a handful who actually followed up with a quote. Matt's quote was not the lowest, nor was it the highest. It was more than we expected to spend, but the job needed to be done. Based on the drawings from an independent engineer and my own online research, I had numerous questions to ask Matt when I spoke with him. All of Matt's answers instilled a confidence that he would get the job done and get it done right. I asked Matt to revise the SOW to include the various steps in the process and he did so without issue. One of the best things about Matt is that he was extremely patient and very willing to make sure that as customers, my sister and I were satisfied and were comfortable with the process that was going to take place. He was not condescending at all. I have dealt with numerous contractors who were patronizing and condescending because they thought they were talking to women who knew nothing. Those are the contractors who do not get hired by me. Matt was able to start right away. He and his men were on the job every day and they finished the job on time. Matt also went above and beyond the instructions provided in the engineer's report. The engineer called for 12 x 12 concrete blocks to support the girder. Matt installed larger blocks and supported the blocks and footings with rebar. He also filled the blocks with concrete to ensure they would not be displaced due to a future storm. Whenever an issue arose with the job, Matt kept us informed. There was an issue with elevating the house in that when concrete was originally poured around the exterior of the house, it was poured up to the siding. As a result the house would not lift. Matt and his guys had to remove some of the concrete from around the perimeter of the house, an unanticipated step, but Matt did not charge us extra. He remained true to his original quote to get the job done. I had a very pleasant experience working with Matt and look forward to working with him again. Matt took tons of photos of his work.
